This 1978 episode in the "Der Alte" series is a formula 1970's German murder mystery. The murder victim "gorgeous Alex" is played by Goetz George, of later Tatort fame as Kommissar Schimanski. A shameless gigolo and exploiter of lonely women, although already married, continued promising marriage to other women whom he works into his tight schedule of conjugal visits. When he turns up dead from poisoning, a prime suspect is "gas lighted"...by the true killer??
This is clearly very dated, but still typical of popular 1970's German TV Drama. As such it is well worth it. Having seen many of the original "Der Alte" episodes decades ago, this has been a pleasant visit to times past, when there were only 3 channels and limited programming. Fans will enjoy it still today!
