Hilarious!

A little dated on how menopause works and how women go through it differently but the comedy endured .

Jean Stapleton gives a performance that never fails to be funny and touching. Edith often seems a little out of step with much of the world but this is one of the rare times she seem aware of that . " when I was a young girl I didn't know everything a young girl should know now I'm gonna be an old lady and I don't know everything an old lady should know!" Archie is the one on eggshells and the look on his face when Edith tell him to stifle is priceless!

Seeing Edith in this state is a bit jarring. One of Jean Stapleton's best Edith Bunker performances. Because of the subject matter not an episode I'd be rushing to see. The Bunkers come through for each other in tough times, as here.

The family is concerned about Edith's wild mood swings, but discover she is going through the change of life.

This is probably the best example of taking a real and previously taboo subject and making it a great comedy show. There are many funny moments such as the scene where Archie is trying to calm Edith down and she shouts "STIFLE!". The look on Archie's face is priceless. This is one of Jean Stapleton's best episodes, there is a great line where she says "When I was a young girl I didn't know what every young girl should know, now I'm gonna be a old lady and I don't know what every old lady should know!" This ranks as one of the best in the series, deftly balancing the serious and the laughter.
