Having learnt that her father framed her mother for the explosion in Madagascar Sydney has to decide what to do with the information; if she tells the CIA her father is likely to go to prison but if she doesn't her mother will be killed. It has certainly soured the relationship between the two of them although they manage to hide that while on an SD-6 mission to retrieve data on a virus Sark is believed to be developing. They aren't the only people having difficulties; Sloane is getting more and more convinced that his wife might still be alive; he even thinks he has seen her in the street; at this point it is hard to tell whether he really saw her or whether we were shown what he thought he saw.
While there were some great action scenes in the instalment it is primarily a character driven episode; Jenifer Garner and Victor Garber put in fine performances as Sydney and Jack although I think the top performance this week, as so often, came from Ron Rifkin; it is the first time we have really seen Sloane in a position where he wasn't in control and he actually looked frail when he thought he saw his wife in the street. The story with Jack and Sydney was well handled and I enjoyed the resolution... it was nice to see Sydney break the rules for a change!
