Ruta + Connie = Fun
darbski18 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
**SPOILERS** Connie Stevens was every young man's crush in the early 1960s. effervescent, and bubbly, she was a real sweetheart. Ruta Lee was a woman that was incredibly hot. Very sexy, and she could play good girls, and bad equally well; didn't matter she was HOTT. Now, I could see Connie with Kookie; that made sense they kinda fit, if you see what I mean. Ruta? and Stu kind went together like a horse and an I-Beam. Ruta is frosty cool, and Stu (and his pal Jeff) are dusty old cubes.

First the old gal gets offed (dirtbag shoves her into the fireplace mantle), and then the world renowned Pastry Chef. He was the one who recognized the "bees" for what they were. He was beaten to death by the same creep. For some reason, I can't remember getting a good look at the bees, but it seems like I thought they were beetles..oh well...

Like it happens so often, Kookie saves the day, and creepy dirtbag gets his just desserts (Pastries+Desserts? get it?? okay, well...) They live happily ever after; anyway, I think they did. Sweet Connie had some pretty good movies, and Ruta graced the T.V.scene with smoldering beauty, and Bailey and Spencer dragged Kookie into Nowheresville. Except for we who remember when it was cool to be Kook. I give this one an 8 for the sweetly cool sugar of Connie and Ruta. Edd Byrnes is still the chiil.

A double date with Kookie
bkoganbing7 February 2017
This all begins with Efrem Zimbalist taking out Edd Byrnes for his birthday to a Russian restaurant owned by Jay Novello. It's a sort of a poor man's Romanov's and the famous Hollywood eatery is mentioned in the course of the story.

The aunt of Zimbalist's date Ruta Lee asks Novello to buy a Russian tapestry which was originally his family but which Celia Lovsky came into possession of in those revolutionary times. Then she wants it back.

Of course there's more to it than just a tapestry, but you see the episode for that. An interesting if not quite coherent story.

Note that Kookie's date is up and coming contract player Connie Stevens who would soon be a regular on 77 Sunset Strip copycat series Hawaiian Eye.

Golden tapestry affair
searchanddestroy-112 November 2015
Nothing special in this routine episode, flat and uninspired. An old Russian refugee arrives to the USA with a priceless tapestry named Honey From the Bees, which is also searched by a bunch of evil guys from eastern Europe. Boring, even with this ever sweet atmosphere and music score. This time the eastern Europe perfume is on the loose for this episode. I guess the producers wanted to put some tone from over there without bringing our heroes in Russia. So expect to hear some violin sounds from time to time. Only for die hard fans of the series. But for me, I will forget it very rapidly.

One more time, directed by George Waggner.
