A general cinematic production
Mysterygeneration13 January 2024
Among the entire series, this movie is arguably the most dubious. I'm not sure whether I can even call it a movie because it's so dubious. Originally intended to be a TV special to commemorate the franchise's tenth anniversary, it ended up becoming a movie. Despite its fan base, Detective Conan: The Private Eyes' Requiem is an unimpressive film both as an anniversary release and as a general cinematic production. The plot, which has Conan and the other detectives trying to solve a case for a client before they all blow up, is the sole redeeming quality of this film. As the film progresses, there is a hint of impending doom since every second brings the character closer to passing away. There is also an occasional good character moment. This, of course, is where the positive reviews for the film end.

The plot is solid, but the way it is carried out is terrible. The sequences are not shot in a way that conveys the urgency of having to solve a case quickly enough. Everything is so plodding and dull that it takes away any kind of intensity that the characters may be experiencing at the moment. The animation and artwork in this film also contribute to its further degradation. Generally speaking, the Detective Conan films are more polished than the anime series. Here, neither the animation nor the artwork have been refined in the slightest. This is a lengthy, literary incident.

I wouldn't mind it as much if this were a TV special-then I wouldn't even need to review it. However, this is more than just a film-it a commemorative film marking the series' tenth anniversary. What does it have going for it in that particular context? What is there in this film that you could see in any other film? Kaito Kid and Heiji?

An epic anniversary!

Warning: Spoilers
The tenth movie was at first glance a mixed bag. But the aftertaste is pretty delicious!

A faceless villain kidnaps in a "Saw" way Conan's friends & "family" and he has, along with Mouri, a day in order to find and solve a case based only on hints. Or else everyone he holds dear will explode!

The mixed bag refers to the unnecessary and a bit forced addition of fan favorite Kaitou Kid. I love him too as a character but it was a bit off.

Other than this, is one of the best movies of the first ten and a true emotional rollercoaster!

This is review from KID fans

Warning: Spoilers
Conan the movie 10, The Private Eyes' Requiem, happens when Conan, Kogoro, Ran, and the Detective Boys are invited to meet Kogoro's client in the hotel next to "Miracle Land". And the client gives a VIP ID watch of Miracle land to everyone to wait for Kogoro. This wouldn't be strange until the client tells information to Kogoro and Conan that they must solve an unknown case before 22 o'clock or about 12 hours. If they can't solve it, he would bomb everyone. At the same time, if Ran or one of the Detective Boys goes out of the Miracle land area, he will bomb that one too. And I guess everyone knows that they will finish it in the last second like normal so I wouldn't talk about this case much. But I will talk about the character in this movie.

As I am a KID fan, so I will talk about him first. "KID" always makes a great appearance when he comes out as usual. In this movie, maybe you think he doesn't have an important role and didn't appear that much, but it is wrong. Because in this movie he disguised as "Saguru Hakuba", another teenage detective, that also has an important role as one of the detectives that the client hires, he is the one who helps Conan when falling into the water and also gives much important information to Conan and Heji. The proof of KID disguised as Hakuba is in the end when police collect the ID of Sonoko that messes up with yellow color from the scene where Conan kicks a ball to evil in the warehouse.

For "Conan" and "Hattori Heiji" did great in their role but there is nothing special. So, I would skip them.

The next character that I would talk about is "Mouri Kogoro" who is the beginning of everything. As a father, I can say that he did quite a great job in the scene where he sends a message to "Juzo Megure" to let the police know and aware Ran and Detective Boys to don't let them come out of Miracle Land.

In Detective Boys I have 2 kids that I want to talk about.

First "Haibara Ai", we can see a rare scene from her when she acts like she is sick to don't letting "Mouri Ran" and "Toyama Kazuha" go out of Miracle Land. For me, this is one of the cutest and most memorable scenes for Haibara Ai.

The second "Kojima Genta" makes trouble in the full movie from the beginning until the end while he doesn't know anything. This looks like he got Conan mystery (where Conan goes it must have a big danger there) in this movie.

The last one that I would talk about is the client, "Ito Suehiko", he is a real self-lover even he said that he loves "Shimizu Reiko". But all the things that he did he did because he want to claim that he is the one who did them. And this can be proved in the end in the security question that asked, "Who do you love the most?" the answer is not "Shimizu Reiko" but "Suehiko Ito" is the real answer.

Overall, of this movie, for me, this is the most romantic movie for Conan because we can see many couples here like Shinichi and Ran, Conan and Hibara (for shipper), KID and Shinichi (for shipper), Heiji and Kazuha, Heiji and Shinichi (for shipper), Kogoro and Eri, and Takagi and Sato. By the way, Conan still has their signature in crime, comedy, and sci-fi anime.
