A Green Day fan's dream come true!!
Workin_Man14 November 2005
To me this... documentary was one of the best i've ever seen about Green Day!!!!! The footage of the concerts was awesome. I didn't realize that Green Day was this loved until I saw this documentary. When they played Wake Me Up When September Ends and Billie Joe's voice was breaking up because of emotions, it almost brought tears to my eyes.

I liked Green Day's choices for songs to play. Actually I was surprised that they played Brain Stew. But I would be very satisfied with this documentary even if Green Day didn't play my favorite songs because I like almost every song by them anyways. So to make a long story short, this documentary was very well made and I enjoyed every second of it.

Amazing

Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge Green Day fan. That's why when I heard this DVD was coming out I couldn't wait for November 15. Luckily, I found out that the DVD was going to be shown for a "pre showing" on November 1. I went out and got tickets the day they went on sale and got to the theater two hours early to make sure I would get a great seat. This DVD was the closest I could feel to being at a real concert. And I have been to one so I have something to compare it to. The best part was, not only the concert but, in between songs the band members were able to talk about their success and other things. I'm not sure if that means a "spoiler" so that's why I checked the box. Anyways, I give this a 10 out of 10. It really made me feel like I was there and gave me the need to buy the DVD right away.

The best Rock DVD ever released!
m_chavez886 November 2005
This show is amazing!!! Bullet in a bible is the first ever official DVD to be distributed by Green Day. Green Day puts on a rock production filled with pyrotechnics, unbelievable energy, and nonstop action that would surprise even the most loyal green day fan. The concert takes place at Milton Keynes bowl in the U.K. in front of 65,000 fans, where only few other rock bands like The Rolling Stones and U2 have had sold out shows. The DVD features over 100 minutes of exclusive performance, behind-the-scenes footage, and candid interviews with each band member. It is definitely something every Green Day or Punk Rock fan needs to watch!!

Euphoric Ecstasy Hits Brand New Levels
danielmiller198515 January 2006
I have been a massive Green Day fan since summer 2005, and since then my love for Billie, Mike and Tre has increased dramatically! After watching Green Day perform at Milton Keynes, I realise one of my main ambitions in life is to one day see my idols rock the world, to experience the overwhelming excitement, that only Green Day can promote. For me it's debatable if anyone can come close to Green Day's standard of performing live. The way Billie interacts with the audience is simply incredible, as the show progresses he builds everyone up until they burst into euphoric ecstasy. They perform every blockbuster hit to a new level and standard not seen before. Some people stereotype Green Day and underestimate them for promoting the Punk Image, but Green Day also promote people to stick up for themselves, and to not conform to rules and regulations, especially from any government, or any other corrupt higher power. The interviews with the band are also fascinating, as it gives you a deep insight to the preparation of the show and backstage area. Green Day have forever transcended the music scene, they have raised the barrier of limitations, and have shown the sky is the limit. Green Day Forever Rule!!

Brilliant
Celexis_1722 December 2005
I loved it, even though being a Green Day fan it should be natural. I thought it was funny, touching, spectacular, over all awesome. It reminded me so much of one of their concerts I got to go to. I thought it was very well put together. Samuel did an awesome job. The interviews really got in deep, and made it to where you can kinda get to know the band a little better. And the backstage access to where you can see what the band does before and after their performances was a nice touch. I also loved how they had a mixture of the new and old material. I think it is well worth watching, especially if your a Green Day fan.

Definitely recommend.

Green Day shows the best concert of punk music in all history
teniente9125 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Green Day is a punk rock band (I love more the cinema but i know very much of music cause I'm an actor, filmmaker and musician of the streets and Green Day are the best band on the punk genre) this amazing band born on the 85' and on the 91' comes whit a punk album call ''1.039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours'' whit a combination of the guitars and voices of Billie Joe and the bass of Mike Dirnt until the drums on ''1.039/Smoothed out Slappy Hours'' are by another drummer (that as an apprentice of Mr. Tre' Cool) that isn't sound like now is good later on the 92' comes whit ''Kerplunk!'' whit Tre on the drums and whit a sound better than the first that makes that Warner is interesting on this great band and comes whit the resurrection of the punk music on the album ''Dookie'' an amazing punk sound and won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, later comes whit ''Insomniac'' an album of punk rock that is more concerted on the sound and no on the lyrics later comes whit a... strange album of (in my opinion) ska-punk for including another's musicians that is not so good call ''Nimrod'' later comes whit an album of punk, punk rock and ska-punk call ''Warning'' that is so good likes is bad later comes the recompilations (''International Superhits!'' and ''Sheninigans'') but whens Billie Joe on the 2003 is arrested is so f*cking angry whit the politic of U.S.A. whit ''American Idiot'' and is won on the Grammys for Best Rock Album and Best Disc, this album of punk rock and powerpop is a ''f*ck you'' for all the motherf*ckers politics and finality this album (also nominated on the Grammys) ''bullet In A Bible'' that is the great recompilation of the best of one of the best bands of all times and best on the genre this is the recompilation of something that is part of the humanity that is that this album a concert of one part of the humanity

Okay... Not great
nadiaespinosa2 June 2006
I was a little disappointed. I didn't like some of the camera angles. Some either took to much attention of what they were saying and other angles focused it to much on Billie Joe. It was good, the performance. But some things were just off. The DVD seemed a little rushed how it would just skip from talking to the concert. Sam Bayer is a good director but I think he tried to hard on this DVD, and was a little exaggerated. It was a little odd as in when Billie Joe talked it focused mainly on his mouth. I think they should have centered the cameras on Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool since you didn't see them as much. Sincerely

Michelle

Nothing can beat this.
nataliedrew12531 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
A boiling hot summer day in Milton Keynes (we don't have many hot days in the UK so a hot day on its own is good)65,000 people in a big field looking place.... what more can you want?! The weekend is something that you think you will never experience again,You try to concentrate on every moment, every stupid/funny thing Billie Joe does so that you wont forget, Its something that you think you wont be able to capture moment like this again. At the start of the gig, I turned to a friend and said to her 'This is the best day of my life, I hope they release it on DVD'. And they did. The first time I watched it, I got back all the butterfly's and happiness that I had when I was there, watching Billie Joe interact with the crowd (no other live act can beat him)watching Mike Dirnt play the bass like it should be played and generally laughing my head off and Tre Cool faces as he drums. If you went to this gig, than you should buy it, It brings back all the great memories of the day, and if you didn't go then buy it cus you can see what you missed out on and enjoy just as much. There are only a few complaints about the DVD, I think its got too many special effects in it, It'll flash Billie, then to the crowd, then do a weird thing with the colours, than to mike, etc. You spend some of the time trying to work out where you are and who your looking at. I would've been happy enough just having one camera on the stage.....actually, maybe on the crowd occasionally otherwise you wouldn't get to see how many people where there. And me being the lucky person I am, I got to spot myself in the crowd. Which for a person who went is amazing. Also, they didn't include some of the songs that were played, I went on the first date, on the Saturday, and on performance I was looking forward to was seeing Knowledge, Maria, We are the champions and then seeing the songs they performed on Sunday such as Homecoming. Anyways to some up, a brilliant DVD, As I'm writing this I've actually got it on, listening to my favourite live performance of Minority. Go out and buy it, It's totally worth it!

Too much hysteria
lepo289 February 2006
In my opinion in 'Bullet' they get a little addicted to massive hysteria, in excess: in almost every song from the show Billie Joe makes the audience shout different kind of chants, showing how much he controls his fans.

Without that, they could have added at least 5 more songs to the DVD, and maybe some from their earlier records. Their catalogue from the pre-Dookie era (e.g. 'Going to Passalacqua'!) is completely absent...

But anyway, I'm a huge fan of Green Day too, they changed my life from the first minute I listened to 'Dookie', and 'Bullet...' is a must-see for every fan.

Damn good but.....
calvey103925 May 2006
The last comment about this live film kind of over shot it. This isn't specifically a momentous green day show as far as content. The only amazing out of the ordinary thing is how any people it's played to. This set is what they play just about every time out minus when I come around, jaded, she, and they cut out the portion when Billie pulls three fans from the crowd to play knowledge. It's a good surface live DVD and a good surface documentary. Perhaps they make a full on concert DVD next time and a full on documentary. Though the split in it's approach takes away from what it could be it's still good, but it's not insanely entertaining for anyone who has ever seen the band play live, on this tour at least.

Awesome in parts, very cringeworthy in others
maccas-5636713 March 2021
Bullet In A Bible is certainly a product of its time. It's a time capsule of the early-mid 2000s.

I wasn't a huge fan of the behind-the-scenes segments that take place between each song. It broke momentum in the show. Green Day were at their best when just playing their music. The musicianship was great and the energy infectious.

Billy Joe Armstrong pretty much jerks off in front of the audience, along with a whole heap of other moments doused in heavy cringe. The yelling of "ENGLAND!" every 5 seconds was tiresome - had we all forgotten where this was and needed reminding every so often?

Highlights for me were some of the old stuff from Dookie-era Green Day, as well as some of the closing songs. The ego (and music video background) of filmmaker Samuel Bayer was its downfall - far too many unnecessary scenes, and changeable camera angles, which was almost enough to give one an epileptic fit.

The music of Green Day will live on and never get old - but this concert (in parts) is going that way. It relies on heavy doses of nostalgia almost a little too much.

a must have for Green Day fans
tbolt81119 August 2006
I absolutely loved Bullet In A Bible. Green Day is amazing live and they put on amazing shows. From beginning to end this was one enjoyable watch and listen. The behind the scenes stuff was very nice to see and this was the biggest concert done by a punk rock band to date. It has all there amazing breakthrough tracks off there amazing American Idiot record as well as many classic favorites such as Brain Stew, Longview, and Basketcase. They also even include a wonderful cover to the song Shout. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool put on a phenomenal and enjoyable performance that i recommend to any Green Day or punk rock fan in general. This really shows why Green Day is one of them legendary bands that will go down as one of the best ever in punk rock..Green Day rocks!

Doesn't do the event justice
Glitch71226 November 2005
I went to this concert on the first date (18th June), and that was probably one of the, no, THE best event I've ever been to. So imagine my excitement when I got this DVD/CD in the post this morning. Now imagine my disappointment when I watched it and found it a badly-directed, chopped-up affair devoid of anything that made it all great in the first place. I'm not sure how or why, but this went wrong somewhere. The DVD features footage from both dates, making it inconsistent, and there's an interview in between each song. Very nice, but couldn't we have had them separately or something? The camera angles are generally poorly chosen, and the promised audience interviews, while funny, are very short. These might seem like minor gripes, but they all add up. If you're considering buying this DVD hoping to relive fond memories of the concert, go ahead. Just don't expect too much from it like I did.
