Amusingly natural

Hamoudi and Emil are friends and, being both boy in their very early teens they share an interest in women's breasts – specifically those of their bikini-wearing neighbour. Looking at her from their window is one thing but ideally they would be down their rubbing sun cream into her skin themselves – an event that will surely happen if only they can engineer their way into her backyard and get chatting.

Refreshing free of coming-of-age lessons and rosy memories, this tale of two teenage boys is simple, amusing and reasonably fair in its framing of summer time interests. Although the plot is fairly basic, it is effective in producing a natural story that has good humour to it and moves forward at an enjoyable pace. The dialogue is funny without ever being hilarious and the two young actors do a good job of basically being themselves and convincing me that they weren't acting at all. The direction is good and the film feels warm like summertime and rarely looks like it had any budgetary constraints at all.

Some viewers will feel that the plot is a limiting factor, and they would be right in that but for me it did enough with what it did to be worth a look.
