Quotes

  • Lady Tamplin : [Lenox and Corky enter]  Ah, here they are at last. Katherine, my daughter Lenox. And this infant is my husband, Corky.

Lenox Tamplin : He's not my father, obviously.

    Corky : Oh, no!

Lenox Tamplin : That would be the astonishment of science.

  • Lenox Tamplin : God, I'm bored.

Lady Tamplin : Of course, you are bored, darling. It's your hormones.

    [Corky snorts with laughter]

Lady Tamplin : Corky, why don't you go and find a little friend to play with?

  • Hercule Poirot : [Poirot has stepped off the Blue Train in Nice. The train whistles, then someone shrieks. Lady Tamplin stumbles out of the train]  My dear Lady Tamplin! What is the matter?

    Lady Tamplin : Don't, don't. I think I'm going to be sick...

    [clutching her stomach]

Hercule Poirot : What is the matter, Lady Tamplin?

Lady Tamplin : Oh, God... Katherine...

Hercule Poirot : [deeply concerned]  What has happened to Mademoiselle Grey?

Lady Tamplin : She... Oh, my God... I shouldn't have looked at all that... blood.

[Poirot rushes into the train and collides with Lenox]

Lenox Tamplin : [screaming in horror]  Mother! Mother!

Katherine : [Poirot hesitates at Katherine's door. Then he opens it and finds Katherine also opening the door]  Oh!

    Hercule Poirot : Oh!

Katherine : I'm so sorry I kept you waiting. I didn't find my silly comb.

[Poirot heaves a sigh of relief]

Hercule Poirot : [Checking the number of Katherine's compartment - No. 3]  Compartment number 7!

[He runs to investigate. Katherine looks concerned]

  • Lady Tamplin : [running wearing pyjamas]  Have you seen this? Corky! Corks! Where's Corks!

Lenox Tamplin : [sunbathing]  I thought you always want me to call him "daddy".

Lady Tamplin : Whatever she says. Read that.

    [handing her a newspaper]

Lenox Tamplin : [reading]  Some woman who was poor is now rich. Whatever.

Lady Tamplin : Katherine Grey! She's my cousin! My first cousin!

Lenox Tamplin : Never heard of her.

Lady Tamplin : No, ah, we never had tremendously much in common. - Why can't someone die and leave me half a million quid? I'd spend it properly and all the right tradesmen would be rewarded and fulfilled and it'd all be lovely.

Lenox Tamplin : Darling mommy, always thinking of other people.

Lady Tamplin : I think, I should invite Katherine to come and stay. The Riviera sunshine might cheer her up.

Lenox Tamplin : Anyone asks me what I get from my mother and I'll say: Shamelessness.

Lady Tamplin : Pull it out, darling, or that will be all you'll get.

  • Lady Tamplin : Why can't someone die and leave me half a million quid? I'd spend it properly. And all the right tradesmen would be rewarded and fulfilled and it would all be lively.

Lenox Tamplin : Darling mummy, you're always thinking of other people.
