Indie. Very indie.

There are budgets and then there are budgets. Any filmmaker who puts in the time, the effort and the imagination to make a full length feature film deserves all the credit they can get, but, as of writing, this has a 9 out 10 rating which, frankly can only have been given by those involved. The story shows promise. The pacing is right. But the actors are laughably bad - sorry, guys. the opening scene of the car thief? I'm no expert but to hot-wire a car you might actually have to do more than put your hands under the steering wheel - and the camera shots poorly chosen so that people have to cross them. I applaud, I applaud, I applaud the effort that no doubt went into this but it needed to be done in a theater first to hone the actors skills, to stop them overselling themselves on every shot and a 9, when Godfather gets 9.1 might be reaching a little bit. 2 stars out of ten. Someone hire the director. But you gotta be a fan to watch this one.

Great film - captivating story with outstanding actors!

I loved this film! The actors were outstanding: all new faces on the screen who did an excellent job bringing the characters close to the audience and conveying their message. The movie looks just fantastic - I can't believe it wasn't shot on film! The music is original and definitely different - it underlines the atmosphere and story line of the film perfectly! The story was really interesting and moving! Never a slow moment, never a gap in the story line - truly captivating! I had also seen Clayton Allis' excellent short film :/RUN - and with FALLING he takes his film-making skills one step further. I definitely recommend watching this film, it's one of the best I've seen in a while!

Great Independent Picture!

This picture is a must see for all independent filmmakers. It goes to show that you can still do an indy in New York City without getting thrown in jail. I hear this picture was done on a shoestring budget, but it doesn't look like that. The cast is very intriguing; they are certainly worth a second look. The cinematography flows like a studio film, and has a very pleasant color palette. All in all, I enjoyed this feature from beginning to end. With dozens of great locations, the director uses the inner city to add suspense to an already gripping story....see it if you haven't. Also keep an eye on this director, I think he has a few more tricks up his sleeve. His earlier works are quite entertaining as well.

FALLING is a suspense drama about a man who gets saved by a stranger who dies in the process.

I really enjoyed this film. It's a smart tight movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. All of the aspects of the film really work in particular the acting is very strong. I thought all three of the main performances were believable and powerful. Even the secondary characters were well played which can often be a downfall for independent films. The script was sharp with good dialog and the story really keeps you involved. The pacing of the film was outstanding and you really are engaged as a viewer throughout. There was no point where I felt disconnected from the film which is very rare in any type of film, independent or otherwise.

this feels "real"

I saw FALLING at the DNA film fest in Toronto and greatly enjoyed it. It was thoughtful and solid, with great performances. I liked that it didn't rely on quick cuts and other "MTV" like gimmicks to give it substance. This one really stood on its own and to me, felt real--the way the characters spoke and dress--I have seen the same type of people on the streets! While the story is a classic one about guilt and redemption, the way it plays out is refreshingly different. Things don't always unfold the way you think it is going to. It subverts some stereotypes. It also had a nice, rich look to it. I highly recommend FALLING.
