Why oh why would you waste your time...?
mail-jody12 July 2006
Four men with little or no acting skills pretend to be gangsters in this brilliant comedy.. oh thats right, its meant to be serious.. I forgot.. utter cheese from start to finish, bad acting, bad casting, bad movie.. was it filmed on a handy-cam?

Why would you waste your time making a movie this bad.. Its like a bad rip off of pulp fiction and reservoir dogs but lucky for them its so awful that Tarantino wont be suing them because he will be laughing so hard.. and why stop at robbing 500 million dollars? why not make it a billion billion dollars, or all the money in the world? don't give up ya day job fellas! hey did these guys write 'Hoboken Hollow' by any chance?

4 nobody's drive around rural Oregon doing nothing

Warning: Spoilers
this is an awful film. Very low budget, wooden acting, and a story that is as incomprehensible,as it is dull. Avoid at all costs. I have seen student films that are better than this, after just a couple of minutes the complete amateurish production is obvious. My first hint was that the DVD said in was 1hour and 15 min. what an odd length for a feature film, well that one hour lasted what seemed like forever. Oh and don't believe the what you might read on the DVD as far as the story is concerned. Vegas, and the casino they are supposed to blow up, never happens. In fact it looks to me like they never left the back woods of Oregon where i wish they had left the DVD.

I would give it a zero if I could.

One Hopeful Star Trying To Shine In A Very Dark Sky
maryjanethomas10 August 2006
Let's face it, whether a movie is big budget, low budget, or no budget at all, good writing and acting will shine through. Sadly, so will bad writing and bad acting. That's what happens in Turn Left. Bad writing and acting are prevalent. If the writer is new, perhaps he will improve. I won't count him out...yet.

There is a gem among the rubble, though. John Bourke gives a very promising glimpse of raw talent that could easily be turned into something very special with the right script and director. I plan to keep my eye out for him. I see a little Bruce Willis - Vin Diesel in this gentleman. Sort of the tough guy with the gentle giant sweet side built in. I hope this isn't the last film I see him in. I'd like to see what he does next.

Very low budget, but entertaining
john-374928 June 2006
I saw this film when it was first screened at the Indi Film Festival here in NY. The director was there and gave me a free ticket and a movie soundtrack. The story kind of jumps back and forth a bit, but I found myself laughing at some of the dark humor in the film. If you forget to pause the film before you go to the bathroom, you'll probably miss something. I purchased the DVD and was kind of disappointed with the cover. I think it is misleading. They should have stuck with the film poster they had at the film festival with the gun and shot glasses... that describes it better. If you are expecting high budget explosions and special effects, don't... you won't find them in this movie. What you will find is a story about some bad guys who have had some bad luck in the past and run into more as the film progresses.

Not bad for a first effort, but could have been better

I have to give these guys at least a high-five for trying and also for keeping my girl snuggled up to me. I went to the video store the other day and wanted to see something a little different than the run of the mill Hollywood flick. I took a close look at the back cover and didn't recognize any names....so I knew it was going to be either a B or C flick. Plus York Entertainment is known for putting out ultra low budget films that you can flush down the toilet. However, I'm always looking to see if they will put out something worth my time.

Well once I started to watch TURN LEFT, I was pleasantly surprised at some of the scenes and a lot of the dark humor in the film. My girl was even amused. This shocked me because she usually gets up and finds something else to do when a film doesn't look like it's been shot for a million bucks. The actors Chris Bland and John Bourke just might have a future in the entertainment industry. My girl said they will be the ones to watch for in the future. She's usually right.

Editing and music take viewers on a wild ride
graphics-1523 May 2005
Hop in baby; let's ride. The keen video editing of this satirical film noir speeds the viewer through a road trip filled with detours. An itinerant group of criminals encounter a few wrong turns and bumps in the road that stall their voyage to Vegas to bomb a casino. You'll want to hit the breaks, dreading the characters chicanery moves. The tight music helps tell the story of a coterie-of-criminals that skid out of control as they unwittingly traduce each other tearing up the highway (and a road map) along the way. You'll grip your seat as the characters innocently make ordinary decisions that end up exacerbating their lives. The tergiversation of the story leaves the viewer on a dark and lonely road wondering what direction to take. The plot is driven by a combination of seemingly desultory segues that heighten the plot and bewilder the viewer. It keeps you wondering — "what the …"

Private Screening
imagine_me23 May 2005
I actually was invited to a private screening of the movie, TURN LEFT, in Switzerland, and I must say that I was very impressed by the performance of all the actors. New comers, John Bourke, James Yarborough, Chris Bland and Mark Coronado proved to work together very well. I feel this film was cast very well for first time director, Dominic Jackson. I was also surprised to receive a very cool movie soundtrack after the screening was over. Overall, I feel that this film has great potential, and I really think this could be one of the "surprise" success stories in the making. Prepare yourselves for one crazy, joyride....
