kinda cheesy, but cute

Warning: Spoilers
It all begins with a space alien being pulled over by a cop. As the guy(?) has no license, he's taken to jail. Why the alien was driving a car around town, I have no idea, but his alien friends are mad. It seems that the state dislikes illegal aliens, so the other worldly guys go out campaigning for Schwarzenegger. They seem to think that since he was in a sci-fi film (THE TERMINATOR), he'll help the aliens and let their friend out of jail. But, after working hard to elect the man, they feel betrayed when the Governator announces he is NOT in favor of a plan to give illegal aliens drivers licenses. So, in a final scene, you see them with a logical candidate for the job.

Okay, this is NOT a film that will likely be headlining at Cannes or winning an Oscar. However, despite some cheesy special effects and an overall current of silliness, the film is cute and worth a look as it makes fun of the Gray Davis recall vote several years ago in California.

An amusingly dippy sci-fi comedy short

Warning: Spoilers
A race of bug-eyed, bald-headed, green-skinned extraterrestrials plan on attacking Sacramento, California. After one of their number gets arrested for driving a car without a license, the other aliens immediately apply for driver's licenses at the DMV. The nefarious Martians then start aggressively campaigning for Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Governor of California because he portrayed the lead in "The Teriminator" and hence should be sympathetic to their cause. Alas, the bumbling would-be invaders' plan backfires when Arnold comes out against illegal aliens in California. Undaunted, the aliens decide to get Michael Jackson elected as President of the United States. Director/co-writer Anthony Shafer whips up a hilariously goofy romp which zips along at a constant snappy pace and delivers a fair share of solid belly laughs (keep your eyes peeled for an inspired cameo appearance by Jar-Jar Binks!). The aliens and their wacky antics are quite funny in an admittedly dopey sort of way and the tone is downright infectious in its giddy silliness. The cinematography by Larry Huntington, Kraig Jorgensen, and Ted Robb gives the film a nice polished look while Terry Huntington's suitably cornball and lively score hits the zany spot. An enjoyably inane hoot.
