Sex & Nudity

  • No onscreen sex or nudity, but there are some sexual themes, especially if certain actions and routes are taken.
  • A man has a seemingly lustful desire for his ex-fiance, as he talks about having her to himself and keeping her away from her brother.

Violence & Gore

  • Fighting throughout the game is often very bloody, especially for it's time.
  • Plenty of cutscenes also have a lot of graphic violence with lots of blood and dismemberment.
  • The main character, Caim, is known for his intense bloodlust by many other characters.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One optional party member is quite literally a psychopath.
  • Like many of Yoko Taro's games, this one has a very dark tone that only gets more so as the game goes on with plenty of legitimately terrifying twists.
  • There are plenty of characters who are downright inhumane and have no qualms about committing truly atrocious acts.
  • Some themes that are explored include whether or not humanity as a whole deserves to live and the impending end of the world, which make the game very disturbing and emotionally draining.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • It's revealed that one optional character is a pedophile, though he himself is disgusted by this and had isolated himself from everyone else in an attempt to avoid enacting on such desires.
  • It's revealed that a young woman had incestuous feelings for her own brother, who reacts with horror upon hearing this.

Violence & Gore

  • In one ending, it's implied that a child was eaten alive offscreen, with a smear of what looks like blood seen afterwards.
  • A woman is eaten alive by several monsters offscreen, we see her bloody arm afterwards
  • A woman is revealed to be a cannibal who eats already dead children for a warped belief of keeping them safe inside her.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There's five endings in the game, and two of them have all the named characters and presumably all of humanity die as a result. One is particularly heartbreaking as it deals with the ramifications of the actions of a character driven completely mad with grief.
  • The main character spends a great deal of time progressing and fighting through waves of enemies to save his sister, only to find her dead against a wall, causing him to break down emotionally. In one particular path, it's made even worse by showing her commit suicide in front of him out of guilt for her incestuous feelings towards him.
