Sublime French drama showing how difficult it is to let a loved one go
rob_icqmail22 October 2004
After their parents died, Vincent quit his study in Architecture and took a job in demolition to take care of his sister Alice who's still in school. When Vincent was still studying, he met an older woman with whom he fell in love. They meet in secret each Saturday. At some point in time, Vincent's and Alice's brother Thomas returns from a two-year journey to south America. This event stirs up their lives. Things turn out to different from what they first seem... All three turn out to be very vulnerable, especially towards one another. Thomas appears not to have had his own restaurant. Alice discovers Vincent's secret love and has a difficult time understanding. When Juliette asks Vincent for a serious relationship, the two brothers and sister have a difficult time... but appear to have found enough strength to cope.

Filmed at just a few locations, this film allows you to focus at what matters in life. It shows simple beautiful people in difficult situations... allowing tears for those who are sensitive to this...

Sublime French drama!!!

Between love and duty
Vincentiu20 April 2007
French flavor and subtle acting.

Crisis of a small family and the roots of dreams, silent shadows, questions and fear.

Aspects of love and duty and fight against yourself. Escapes, illusions and the necessity to understand the other as reflection of own universe.

In fact, forms of a special relation with the past, circles of touch and gestures, some slices of confuse expectation, the skin of social presence, expressions of feelings like autumn leaves and creation of life sense.

It is an ordinary film about ordinary problems. But, the minimalist ways to describe the evolution of three young people, the subtle science to offer the image of interior crisis, the locations are pieces of a profound message.
