Average documentary about a questionable man involved in an amazing sport.

Shaded Blue revolves around the free-diver Pipin Ferreras, and his goal to achieving a new world record depth. It's basically just a documentary on the man, his goals, and his philosophies etc.

To be honest here, I was disappointed with this movie. Pipin, minus his amazing talents, is just not a very likable person. He just has a very smug aire about himself. And also, he's pretty boring. Makes me think all the rumors about him may have some truth. Any bit of research you perform on him will have you second-guessing this guy almost immediately, and this documentary doesn't really put him in a different light. I didn't really want to believe there was a possible 'bad guy' in free-diving, but it seems Pipin, whether he likes it or not, has become it.

Another downer about this flick, is it's not a very good documentary either. The underwater footage is uncreative and for someone who has seen free-diving footage before, very been-there-done-that. The information is okay, I suppose, but honestly at 50 minutes, it's surprisingly tedious.

I don't recommend this movie out to anyone unless they're obsessed with the sport of free-diving and/or want to get a better look at Pipin. You're much better off watching, Ocean Men: Extreme Dive if you want an interesting and creative look at free-diving.
