Just for Ayesha Jhulka

Kohra review :

"Baby Dol mein heere di Baby Dol mein heere di"

Nah, the film doesn't have this famous Sunny Leone song but its basic plot revolves around a doll which is embedded with diamonds. Coveted by half dozen smugglers, the baby doll falls in to hands of Ayesha Jhulka who loses her eyesight due to it.

The only reason I saw this movie at the shady Sharda cinema in Dadar was for Ayesha Jhulka who I loved as a college kid. Its my personal worst theatrical experience with creaky seats, ammonia stinking interiors and cat chasing rats below your seats. Terrible!! Kohra is the only movie I saw at this cinema hall. Ayesha ke liye kuch bhi karegaa!!

Coming to the film, it was directed by Parto Ghosh who had just delivered hits like 100 Days (1991) and Dalaal (1993). Kohra is not too bad a film for early 90s but the audience was just not interested in Armaan Kohli who had a string of flops since his debut in Virodhi (1992).

The pretty Ayesha Jhulka was a decent actor by all standards but she blew away her promising career by doing a string of films with Armaan, all of which failed miserably including his home production Aulad Ke Dushman (1993). They were dating each other that time and the gossip mills even spoke of an impending marriage which unfortunately, never happened.

I caught Kohra again on YouTube after ages fast forwarding those irritating songs. It brought back my college memories...and ofcourse, the cat chasing the mouse episode!!
