5 minutes of comedy crammed into a 9 minute film
Havan_IronOak23 October 2003
Warning: Spoilers
Caution: This review may contain a spoiler?

This short takes a broad swipe at a lot of gay stereotypes under the dramatic premise that a straight couple can brief a clueless gay boy when he's obviously missed the lecture on detecting those like himself. It seems that G.A.D.A.R. are "Gay Attributes Detectable At Range"

The jokes are OK as far as they go and I'm in favor of anything that lampoons stereotypes but this film seemed overly long for the concept.

I'm sure Bugs Bunny, Prince Charles and Miss Piggy, who are all featured would agree. (for those that really don't know... (obviously, nope just British, and DRAG QUEEN)

The real life actors all did a credible job and I'd have really liked to see the novice gay boy hook up with his intended target (who were both adorable) but that wasn't what the director had in mind.

Like a good Saturday Night Live sketch
Keb-brand24 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I saw a bootleg DVD of this at a party recently, and laughed my head off.

Basically, the film is about a young gay guy who can't figure out how to pick up men, and his two straight friends who decide to help him out. Being type "A" personalities, they hold a workshop for him, complete with visual aids and exercises.

The film was clearly shot dirt cheap, and the visuals are nothing to write home about. However, the script is great, and the performances are wonderful.

All in all, this feels like a good Saturday Night Live sketch-- from back when Saturday Night Live was actually funny.

Still quoting lines to my friends
JohnstoneBrian28 August 2008
I have been trying to figure out how to rate this film.

ON THE PLUS SIDE:

* I laughed all the way through it.

* It's nice to see a gay film that has plot and characters, rather than just hunky guys taking their clothes off.

* My friends and I liked it enough to watch it a second time. (Not a big commitment, since it's only about ten minutes long.)

ON THE DOWN SIDE:

* Production values are very low.

* Could desperately use some color correction.

THE BOTTOM LINE: It's a week later, and I'm still quoting lines from this thing to my friends. So I'll forgive it the technical flaws and say that I liked it.
