A Tale of Treachery and Revenge within the Yakuza
Uriah4315 August 2020
After a betrayal by her fiancé has left her destitute and her family in disgrace, a young woman named "Fujito" (Enami Kyoko) almost kills a man she mistook as the cause for her current situation. Fortunately, rather than reacting in a violent manner "Tatsumi" (Hiroki Matsukata) invites her to his home to get out of the bad weather. While staying there Fujito learns that Tatsumi is a prominent person in the Horikawa family of the Yakuza and has recently been chosen as the heir upon the death of its leader. This decision, however, does not please his fellow Yakuza brother named "Morito" (Michitarô Mizushima) who then decides to form an alliance with a rival Yakuza clan to have him assassinated. To avoid any suspicion a mysterious person by the name of "Shimazaki Yuzo" (Shigeru Amachi) is selected to kill Tatsumi instead. What nobody counts on, however, is the response by Fujito when that happens. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was an adequate installment of the "Woman Gambler" series which suffered a bit from the technique of featuring a later sequence of events at the start which took away some of the mystery. In spite of that fact, the action and suspense still flowed rather well and for that reason I have rated this film accordingly. Slightly above average.
