A waste of time.
jgusw8 March 2003
The name of this movie was "Cut Throat" when I saw it. It is just bad. I've seen some bad movies and this one is in the top 10 all time worst. Bad acting, bad story, bad everything. If you like bad movies, then watch this. You and your friends will have a great time tearing this garbage apart. This movie was a waste of money for whoever put up the dough to make it.

What a waste
KHayes66631 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
You know there was a movie about filmmakers getting hacked one by one, it was called Cut and it came out 8 years ago. This movie is not only a ripoff but its an abomination the likes of which should never be seen by a normal human being. I'll try to explain this one A group of morons are making a slasher movie called Death Blade, during which they run out of money. Desperate to finish someone really gets killed on the set so they're forced to recast the lead role which leads to more murder and mayhem as the new actress must stay alive. There are so many, MANY things wrong with the movie I even have to question not only why I'm reviewing this but why I watched it in the first place. The first thing wrong was that during the opening scene the actress was "stabbed for real" and "died". EVERYONE SAW HER GET STABBED!!!! Why didn't anyone go after the guy who stabbed her? It doesn't make any sense but then again nothing make sense. Scenes come and go with no continuity, characters annoy the living horse manure out of everyone and worst of all there's no T and A. Seriously, what's a horror movie without eye candy or even the possibility of it? One scene Heather goes into the bathroom where the killer is, she runs into it then runs out of the room. A moment later Samantha walks out of the bathroom (spoiler: she's not the killer) like nothing happened, what the hell? The whole plot twist at the end is explained but even then its really really stupid. I mean lets say (spoilers) Nick and Hamlin killed everyone, then they have no movie so logically what the hell were they supposed to do next? The whole damn movie was a poor attempt at a horror movie and even the dialogue makes me want to vomit up my intestines. The actors and actresses come off as so lame you can't really get behind them and the one scene with the camcorder makes me wonder if they were trying to do two movies in one like Legion of the Dead. Another part is they are shooting a scene and Samantha spots the killer killing the producer, and when she gets up there no one finds a thing. Another crem de la crap is the detective that solves nothing, stops no murders and is non existent in the overall last stand.

I can go on and on and on but there really is no use, if you've read this far you';d know the kind of crapola we're dealing with here. In terms of watchability it reaches S.I.C.K. like levels of stupidity but the river card is S.I.C.K. had nudity/T and A and this disasterpiece doesn't. Its got ditzy blondes and hot looking women but the directors/writers do absolutely nothing with them other than make them act stupid. OK, I'm done with this crap...its giving me a headache just thinking about what I have just seen.

The one lone highlight of the movie is you see the killer dragging away a dead body then Samantha and Heather walk in as Heather says "Wasn't the costume director supposed to meet us here?" HA....ha....ha.. shoot me now 1 out of 10

Nothing special but certainly not bad.
ChuckStraub10 April 2005
Scared (Cut Throat) isn't a bad movie. It just isn't a great movie. I thought it was a decent film. It doesn't seem to be a very low budget production. The acting was adequate, nothing special but certainly not bad. You do have moments of tension and suspense as the body count rises and the blood splatters, although it may not be up to the expectations of die hard slasher movie fans. The movie quickly becomes a bit of a mystery as you try to figure out "who done it". A little twist is thrown in near the end and a final little twist at the very end. It's an OK movie and I enjoyed watching it but that's it. It was just OK. It's not going to be one of the more memorable thrillers I've seen. Certainly worth a look but it shouldn't be up in your must see list.

Well filmed, but quite average and boring
Katatonia2 December 2002
There's nothing really wrong with this movie. The characters and acting is relatively good for a "B" horror movie. A few of the actors seemed miscast however. it is well filmed and doesn't look like a low-low budget movie.

The only thing is...for some reason it doesn't come together very well. It's just quite boring even for a Slasher movie. It also lasts about 10 minutes too long near the end. Another thing is that although it tries to make a twist out of the ending, i could see it coming a mile away.

Painfully Bad
mjw230530 January 2005
It's a 'B' Movie Slasher Flick, about a serial killer on a film set, who is killing the cast and crew, and i for one, want to buy that killer a beer (i just wish he had killed them all before they started making the movie)

Badly Acted, Written, Directed and Produced, this film deserves no attention from anyone at all, ever!

There is no Tension, no frights, no fun and a very poor excuse for a twist at the end, oh, and its boring too (a rare quality for a slasher flick)

Do Yourself a favour and watch something else.

Huh?
mvario27 May 2005
I love slasher, I'm very forgiving of slashers, but I can't remember when I've seen one with some many lapses of logic before.

This is definitely a post-Scream slasher. Little blood, no gore, no boobs. The directing and cinematography was fine. Some of the acting was okay, some was pretty bad. The script was really bad. The dialog was inane but more importantly so much just didn't work logically.

But it did have a really outrageously stupid ending. If there is any value here at all it is for cheesiness. If you're looking for a good slasher then I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you're looking for a mildly cheesy slasher this might work.

poor!!!
mooning_out_the_window3 January 2007
I am reviewing this film from memory, so forgive me if the details are fairly poor, but so too was the film, and it did not make me want to remember it. To be honest it was possibly the worst film I have ever seen, however it is a B horror movie, and so I perhaps should not have expected any more. However even this is no excuse for what is essentially the worst film ever. The main characters make all the clichéd mistakes, such as wanting to catch the murderer them selves...etc. The whole film is a cliché, but is not tongue in cheek, therefore it does not even have the humour value. The film is also so bad its not even funny. Quite often I find I can watch an awful film, as I can laugh at it, but this was just painful, avoid at all costs!!! Really, Don't even watch it to see if it really is this bad, you will die of boredom!

Cheap Scream ripoff
rootsandwings-547458 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Scream becomes Scared. The title even have the same amount of letters! But now we are done with the clever part of this movie.

Scream had a pair of killers wearing masks, Scared has a pair of killers wearing masks.

One of the killers is a loudmouth (flashback to Matthew Lillard's wacky performance).

The killers are seeking fame not unlike in Scream, where the killing tandem plan to blame violence on Tv and movies to plead insanity.

I usually like Brian Anderson movies but this is far from being his best work.

The ultimate scene with Sam and Nick putting their masks back on is stupid not suspenseful. You can't distinguish who's who in the fight and in an unbelievably predictable move : Sam wins! No sequel for this movie!

I frankly don't know if it was meant as an homage or just trying to do it better, but they have failed on both account. Don't bother with it. It's just a pitiful, poorly acted facsimile. Stream or rent the original Scream movie, it will be much more satisfying.

Typical slasher Flick
pumaye29 January 2006
Well, I'm too big a fan of slasher movies to be a fair judge of this one: is totally derivative, without any real new ideas, but it is also very well photographed, with a really good cast for a B-movie, with a lot of blonds really nice to look at - and this is always a big plus in my criteria for a judgment - and enough action and good lines to keep watching it till the end. It is a total rehash of Scream, with a touch of Cut and of the Italian giallo Deliria (aka Stagefright): all those movies were better - far better - than this one, but Scared is still a movie that you want to watch if you are a slasher movies fan. The only negative mark that you may note is that there are no nudities at all: come on guys!! This is a slasher!! We wants blood and T&A and in both these departments this movie sucks! Be aware of this and if you don't care you'll find that watching Scared is not a total waste of time.
