Pseudo-Slashers
Movies containing elements of slashers, but without enough to actually be one. Most often the defining aspect of a pseudo-slasher is an arbitrary killer. That is one who is completely unrelated to the actual plot.
A good test is if it seems like a shasher, but you could literally relace the killer with a bear without altering the story, it's a pseudo-slasher.

- DirectorLászló IllésVozo Zoltán VéghStarsCaroline BoultonMarina GeraTom NguyenA group of international students explores a basement that has been abandoned for years. But what starts off as an exploratory séance ends in bloody mayhem when a malicious entity is summoned.A good-looking movie, nice creepy atmosphere, but not much else. The dialogue is barely audible, not in English when it feels like it should be, or both, and the story seems like little more than a formality. (3/10)
- DirectorJefferson RichardStarsJoseph Alan JohnsonGreg DawsonValerie SheldonSix people renting a cabin in the woods of Utah run afoul of a legendary viking warrior who dons the claws and mouth of a bear, with no help in sight.A group of young people go camping and get killed off by... *checks notes* an ancient Viking berserker. For some reason, most of the film tries to make it seem like it's a bear. Unless it actually was a bear at first, because the timing of some stuff does not line up.
4/10 - DirectorAiden DillardStarsTed VernonKatie RotoloNicole SodenA group of beautiful bikini-clad girls go on a vacation in the swamp of the Florida Everglades, never to return.Bikini Swamp Girl Massacre (2014)
A very odd thing. It seems like a bad, but competently-made movie, with worse, and incompetently-made footage just kinda randomly edited in for some reason. I legitimately could not tell you what the plot was supposed to be, if there ever was one to begin with.
2/10 - DirectorDevin HamiltonDennis PetersenStarsDebbie RochonDanny WolskeAllen NaborsA young woman with murderous tendencies tries making new friends by joining an elite social club and in so doing, becomes the target of a masked killer bent on killing all her new friends. This movie caught my attention because the cover made it look like the most generic early-2000s straight-to-video horror movie imaginable. And I guess I wasn't disappointed considering what I was expecting. (3/10)
- DirectorTim BoggsStarsDoug BarryAngela DarterMike Kaufman6 teenagers are partying one weekend. One couple disappears, only to be found brutally murdered. A blood thirsty killer is stalking them. One by one bodies begin to show up, as they become prey to the vengeance-seeking maniac.Just a cheaply made pseudo-slasher set at a lake. But like, one that's kinda charming in that weird late-80s shot-on-video horror kind of way. Also, one of the stupidest and most hastily explained backstories I've ever seen. (4/10)
- DirectorMichael J. MurphyStarsPatrick OlliverJacqueline LoganCaroline AylwardAfter a low-budget horror filmmaker is swindled by a home video distributor, he decides to make a snuff film where he murders all those who have wronged him.A movie about a deranged filmmaker taking revenge on a sleazy distributor for stealing his film. Which is a fun concept, and one that is executed... in a style that one might reasonably expect from a super-low-budget slasher-type film. My only real complaint is a bit of padding in the form of characters watching movies, which I assume are clips from the director's previous works, which does start to get old after a while, although fortunately it stops short of trying to drag things out to a full 90 minutes.
5/10 - DirectorCarl LindberghStarsCheryl TexieraMatthew AlbrechtAlaina GianciA couple of dimwitted teens get chased by a killer dressed in a bunny suit.A movie that seems to be aware of the fact that a killer in a bunny costume is its only notable feature, but also one that underutilizes that feature. Far from the worst, but still miles away from good. (3/10)
- DirectorCarl LindberghStarsDavid ScottJoshua LangJulianne DowlerBodies pile up as Bunnyman indiscriminately slaughters anything that crosses his path in a mutually beneficial relationship that gives Joe plenty of beef jerky to sell in his local store. Now instead of a lazy pseudo-slasher, it's a lazy and incredibly uncomfortable torture porn. But if you like women being assaulted and scenes ripped off from much better movies, this is the Bunnyman for you. (3/10)
- DirectorCarl LindberghStarsDiana PrinceBradley BundlieJake Ryan ScottThe deadly adventures of Bunnyman continue in the third and final flatulent film in the Bunnyman trilogy.A movie that adds new things to the Bunnyman series. Things like plot, and backstory, and characters whose names matter. Sure, it's a low bar to clear, but definitely the best of the Bunnyman trilogy. (4/10)
- DirectorEdward GorsuchStarsCatherine WrefordTom NagelMyiea CoyA tragic car accident in the middle of nowhere finds six stranded college students fighting for their lives after making a horrifying discovery in a remote farmhouse in this rural frightener.A bog-standard mid-2000s pseudo-slasher. A group of young people stumble into a situation in which they get murdered one by one. It's got all the window dressing, but no real substance beneath it.
4/10 - DirectorAlex PucciStarsKyle LupoAnika C. McFallJoanna SuhlCAMP DAZE takes you back to the days of tube socks, bongs hits and short shorts, throws in a quiet summer camp full of blood and mayhem and watches the fun unfold.A super fun idea, a group of modern people stumbles into a summer camp that’s trapped in a time loop reliving a 1981 massacre every night. It’s one of those things where they had a really great concept, but the execution just ends up making you wish it could have been done better.
4/10 - DirectorJim O'RearDaniel Emery TaylorStarsJim O'RearDaniel Emery TaylorDick WarlockTen obese men appear on a competitive reality show geared toward weight-loss. As contestants disappear in the night it becomes apparent that a killer is on the loose. In theory, a horror comedy about a massacre at a reality TV fat camp. In reality, mostly just two hours—yes, TWO HOURS—of juvenile fat jokes. The saddest part though, is that there's an almost okay movie underneath that.
2/10 - DirectorBrandon AmelotteStarsFelissa RoseBarry Jay MinoffSteven ChaseAfter discovering they are at risk of failing to graduate, 6 students agree to a weekend camping trip for extra credit. Lead by their teachers, Ms. Bloom and Mr. Warner, the students arrive at Camp Twilight and discover its past. The park has a dangerous and notorious history, and the students soon discover these stories are more than just urban legends. After a series of "accidents", the remaining group discovers they are being hunted and must stick together to survive CAMP TWILIGHT.Fairly standard "Teens get killed in wilderness" movie, although it's really not so much wilderness as it is a park. The entire backstory is delivered in one big monologue at the end and doesn't really explain anything. (4/10)
- DirectorJohn QuinnStarsBetsy RussellLeif GarrettLucinda DickeyA group of cheerleaders become the targets of an unknown killer at a remote summer camp.A movie that starts off like a wacky teen comedy, then turns into a slasher. It tries to be more than that, but doesn't really succeed. It's not bad, just very forgettable. (5/10)
- DirectorMatt CunninghamStarsAmy GordonMike HartSteve LaddenSeven friends are going camping at the infamous DeCamp acres for a weekend. But they crash their car and have to walk, encountering a psychopath who tries to kill them one by one.An entirely watchable horror comedy, which if you know me you will know is high praise for a horror comedy. It seems to have been made with at least some basic understanding of the slasher subgenre and does play a bit with the associated tropes for some good gags. It is overall just a bit of wacky dumb fun, with something of an emphasis on the "Dumb," as a lot of the comedy is based around the characters all just being very stupid. However, they do overuse some of the bits to the point where it goes from wacky to tiresome, and there so some problematic Edgy 90s Humor™ in there which is just uncomfortable to watch. So, worth a watch if you're willing to put up with its faults.
5/10 - DirectorCristian BroadhurstJames BroadhurstStarsTristan BalzJames BroadhurstJustin BurfordThree friends find themselves fighting for their lives when their urban exploration goes horribly wrong.Urban explorers getting stalked through underground tunnels by a mysterious masked man. Neat idea, but it doesn't really seem like they knew where to go beyond that basic concept. They tried, but it just came out kinda meh. (4/10)
- DirectorReyna YoungStarsShotzi BlackheartConnie Jo SechristReyna YoungA group of college students join their teacher for a weekend of filming for extra credit. Documenting the local Hell House that's haunted by the family who were murdered there. Little do they know they would be trying to survive the night. There are lots of things I could talk about in this movie, but the most distracting one is the cheap film grain filter applied to the entire movie. The only saving grace is the 55-minute runtime. (3/10)
- DirectorJames BryanStarsNick ClelandMary Gail ArtzJames P. HaydenFour friends camping in the woods inadvertently stumble upon the domain of a maniacal killer. The best kind of worst movie. Poorly written, poorly acted, horrible effects, and not a minute of it that isn't fun. Barely any plot and filled with random cutaway murders. It is absolute unadulterated campy trash that doesn’t try to be anything else.
5/10 - DirectorKevin KangasStarsRick GanzJacqueline ReresMark LassiseAn artist with coulrophobia ("fear of clowns") is stalked by a murderous clown resembling one of the ones she paints. The one with the buff shirtless clown who uses a medieval battleaxe. Unfortunately, that's about the only noteworthy aspect. The plot just kinda lies flat, and keeps throwing things at you that never matter. (3/10)
- DirectorKevin KangasStarsJacqueline ReresMark LassiseFrank LamaShivers the Clown is back with a vengeance in this sequel to the Lionsgate hit video from 2004! And the ante is upped when he's back with two new psychotic clowns to help him kill Lynn Blodgett. But Detective Peters, the man who put Shivers away, is also back, and this time he doesn't want the clown behind bars...he wants him six feet under!Three times the clowns, one-third the plot. Also, more—but not better—kills. The beefy clown and detective from the first movie are back... I guess the lady is too, but she's really more of a prop in this one. (3/10)
- DirectorJimmy HustonStarsCecile BagdadiJoel S. RiceRalph BrownA psycho killer shows up on college campus to slash up pretty co-eds and dumb jocks. The prototypical pseudo-slasher. A group of generic college students are stalked and murdered by... some dude. Less of a story than just a sequence of events featuring a killer so arbitrary that you could easily replace him with a bear without having any major impact on the story.
4/10 - DirectorSamuel BartlettMatt DoranStarsMatt DoranLisa FinebergAlison GallagherLive footage found by police of a serial killer who documented, first hand, his undertakings.I understand what this movie was trying to do, put the camera in the hands of the killer so we experience the events from their perspective while retaining the objectivity of the lens. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t done very well. Rather than a look into the deranged mind of a killer, it comes across more as just a series of events without any weight or emotion.
4/10 - DirectorDavid R. WilliamsMike BohatchStarsAndrew RothKamillia Kataxenna KovaDina CataldiNine people find themselves trapped in a warehouse that contains the remains of the old Frightworld Amusement Park - a place haunted by the spirit of Verden Fell, a serial killer who died there a year before.A very nice setting, that unfortunately has an edgy mid-2000s slasher happening in it. One of those moves where you keep waiting for anything to make sense, then it literally just ends with a lazy 10-minute exposition dump. (3/10)
- DirectorDavid HindsStarsRichard BoultonTammy DennisSteven GarbettPsychopath Charles Scavolini escapes the mental institution and returns to his home. Now occupied by a gang of partying teenagers, Scavolini takes back his property with brutal blood lust.A weird shot on consumer-level video movie that somehow got an official release more than twenty years later. Also not that many garden tool killings. (2/10)
But like, a high 2. - DirectorJim MakichukStarsRiva SpierMurray OrdSheri McFaddenThree friends on a New Year's Eve snowmobiling excursion find themselves stranded at an abandoned lodge where the elderly female innkeeper is concealing a sinister secret.A move with a nice atmosphere and eerie secluded location, but not much else. There is a story, and in general it seems like it's going somewhere. Like, information is being given which feels like it is building up to something, but then it just doesn't, ending with a weak twist that feels like they ran out of money to film the real ending—incidentally, that is what the legends say is what happened.
4/10 - DirectorScott BeckBryan WoodsStarsKatie StevensWill BrittainLauryn Alisa McClainOn Halloween, a group of friends encounter an "extreme" haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real.Pretty good haunted house deathtrap movie. Nice setting and atmosphere and some pretty cool killers. Overall fun watch. However, −1 point for giving the final girl a completely unnecessary Tragic Backstory™ that serves no purpose other than demonstrating a profound lack of storytelling ability.
5/10 - DirectorSusan EngelStarsDavid MingrinoJohn BeasleyDelaney DriscollClancy and his carnival of misfits, roll into a sleepy mid-western town for their annual Halloween festival. Some are looking for a good time. Clancy has something else on his mind.Another case of someone thinking they're making a deep "psychological thriller," when they're actually making D-grade garbage. Also an astonishing lack of understanding of basic filmmaking and storytelling techniques. (2/10)
- DirectorGary WhitsonStarsTina KrauseJim O'RearDean PaulJim O'Rear and Tina Krause star as a pair of psychic investigators who are hired to find out who's ritualistically murdering people at a popular Halloween haunted attraction, Frightland. The bodies begin piling up as the owner of Frightland loses patience. Will the investigators learn who the killer is before it's too late? This movie starts as a fairly standard low-end pseudo-slasher, and ends with complete nonsense. Also, a full 20 minutes of the runtime are taken up by a magic show. Just, a magic show, in the middle of the movie for no reason other than to eat up runtime.
It's also probably worth noting that this movie was produced by a company that largely makes weird fetish videos. And when I say "Weird fetish" I don't mean feet or adult babies, I mean like torture, strangulation, drowning, cannibalism, and quicksand.
3/10 - DirectorGregory PlotkinStarsCynthea MercadoStephen ConroyAmy ForsythA masked serial killer turns a horror-themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show.An overall very fun pseudo-slasher set in a spooky time amusement park. However, it is a much better visual experience than it is a narrative one. The sets and cinematography are beautiful, but the characters and story are more than a little lackluster by comparison.
(7/10) - DirectorPaul EtheredgeStarsDylan FergusBryan KirkwoodHank HarrisHalloween in West Hollywood, two guys making out in a park are interrupted by a serial killer. Later that night, a group of gay kids decide to visit to the site of the murders.A movie that's really only notable for being "The first gay slasher flick," and I guess it succeeds in that, at least stylistically. It is on par with any low-budget early-2000s slasher, but lacks the key slasher story elements. (4/10)
- DirectorSkip SchoolnikStarsBunky JonesBrittain FryeAnnette SinclairA group of teenagers spend the night in a furniture store for a graduation party. A psycho killer starts hunting them down one by one.Somehow not the only movie I've seen about teens partying after hours in a furniture store. It has some problematic elements, and isn't really good enough to bother with despite that. (5/10)
- DirectorRay Di ZazzoStarsAddison RandallKatrina AlexyRichard DryAt a Halloween party, a young boy is almost killed by his drunken, alcoholic father. Ten years afterward, the boy goes on a murder spree.A man kills a handful of people in different personas. There's a flimsy plot holding it together, but it very much exists just to facilitate that concept. The characters are irrelevant, and just never matter to begin with. (3/10)
- DirectorWilliam T. NaudStarsMarie-Alise RecasnerRick DeanRon GardnerA group of actors are assembled in a small island to film a low-budget movie. Soon, they begin to fall prey to a mysterious killer who uses the lyrics of a weird song to determine his method of murder.A movie that tried to have a clever twist ending, but the "Oh yeah that makes sense in retrospect" part was a bit too obvious to be ignored at the time... and the movie just kinda ignores it. (5/10)
- DirectorJeff LiebermanStarsGeorge KennedyMike KellinChris LemmonFive young people venture into the backwoods of Oregon to claim a property, and find themselves being stalked by a hulking, machete-wielding psychopath. One of the best "slasher" movies you've never heard of. Great wilderness atmosphere, very deliberate pacing, and some beautifully set up shots. Seriously, this movie has intentional and artful cinematography, which can be quite surprising given the reasonable expectations. An example of "pseudo-slasher" as a descriptor of a film's structure, not an insult.
7/10 - DirectorBen MillikenStarsCaroline TudorBrad SchmidtLaura NiemiThe Thomas family goes out to their cabin in the woods to celebrate Christimas together with their daughter and her boyfriend, but their first Christmas together may be their last.About 40 minutes worth of movie, stretched out to 78 with painfully tedious melodrama. Much of the dialogue is barely audible, and many of the scenes are incredibly underlit. At least the killer looks pretty cool. (2/10)
- DirectorEric EnglandStarsColley BaileyMatt MercerAce MarreroA group of college kids travel to a small, mountain town called Madison County to interview the author of a tell-all book on the accounts of several grisly murders that happened there. But when the kids get to Madison County, the author is no where to be found and the towns people act like they haven't seen him in years. They also say that the killer never existed and the murders never happened. However, when the kids start digging around to get their own answers, they find out that the stories may be more real than the townspeople are letting on!An interesting enough premise, but one that is barely used in the movie. Like, there was legitimate potential for mystery and suspense, but nothing was ever explored even in the slightest. (4/10)
- DirectorS. William HinzmanStarsKevin KindlinTerrie GodfreyMark V. JevickyA high school majorettes are being methodically killed by a mysterious masked figure. Meanwhile, a local gang are involved in suspicious activities around the school. An okay slasher-type affair, until drug dealers kill the final girl to set up a revenge-killing spree, dropping the original plot in the process. Like, they literally set up the ending of the story, then just kinda didn't do it. (4/10)
- DirectorClaudio FragassoBruno MatteiStarsPeter HootenTara BuckmanRichard FosterA surviving amnesiac victim of a serial killer is terrorized while the police works with a psychiatrist to bring him to justice and stop the crime wave. After a woman is repeatedly raped, her psychologist has her estranged husband abduct and sexually torture her to help her get over the trauma of the first attack by reliving it. Which the movie presents as a good thing. (3/10)
- DirectorNorbert MoutierStarsRobert AlauxFrançoise DenielPierre PattinA masked lumberjack stalks anyone who enters his woods. Throughout the film we get a variety of people who come in contact with the killer and they don't live to regret it.Legend has it that this movie came into being when a French video store owner just kinda decided to make his own movie to rent out at his shop. And when someone makes a movie with no idea what they're doing, you usually get one of two results: Absolute garbage, or an accidental Dadaist masterpiece. OGROFF is the latter, a fever dream of sights and sounds disconnected from any logical reality.
It is a movie that must be experienced, its true nature cannot possibly be conveyed via the imperfect medium of formal language.
4/10 - DirectorJag MundhraStarsJoseph BottomsAdrienne BarbeauRudy RamosSomeone is killing off nubile real estate agents. A psychologist doing a therapy talk show begins getting calls from the perpetrator, and cooperates with the police to try and stop him. Unfortunately, his lover is a real estate agent, and when it becomes clear that the madman is getting information for his kills from her discarded home listings, they both become endangered.A... I guess real estate-themed pseudo-slasher. Fairly formulaic and repetitive with subplots that go nowhere, and a main plot that just kinda just goes along without the characters having any meaningful impact on it. (4/10)
- DirectorTroy EscamillaStarsTommie VegasJoe GrisaffiLaurel ToupalSix friends become prey for a sadistic psychopath when they decide to ditch their high school's after prom party for their own celebration at a secluded house.Another standard pseudo-slasher, young people go to a place and get killed one by one by an arbitrary assailant. The ending was so rushed and inconsequential that I literally forgot how it ended the next day and had to rewatch it, and now that’s the only part of the movie I actually remember.
3/10 - DirectorGlenn Douglas PackardStarsDaniel WilkinsonBrian Michael RaetzLindsey DresbachAfter sharing a secret about himself, Hunter brings a group of friends from NYC back to his family farm for a weekend break. They quickly learn that secrets can be deadly as they are stalked by a twisted and disturbed beast, Pitchfork.A man returns to his family farm for the first time after coming out. You might assume that this fact relates to the plot in some way, or comes up more than once. It does not. The plot does not relate to anything in any way. But it is a fun vapid watch.
5/10 - DirectorRene PerezStarsNatasha BlasickRichard TysonCharlie GlackinA serial killer is purposely released from an asylum for the criminally insane so that he can continue his rampage.A visually entertaining movie, but very little substance. The lead actress delivers her lines so awkwardly, and with such a thick accent, that it sounds like she learned them phonetically and doesn't actually know what she's saying.
4/10 - DirectorRene PerezStarsRichard TysonKarin BraunsColin BryantA group of aspiring actors are chosen for a reality Horror TV show where they must survive a Slasher movie. In time, the actors discover that the show is fake but they Slasher is real; who has been sent out to kill them.A slightly better story than the first one, a horror reality tv show being used to lure in victims. Which is a cool concept, and one I'd really like to see in a better movie, but overall this is just more of the first one. Also notable is that it features another lead actress with a very thick European accent, which makes me suspicious about how these movies are being cast.
4/10 - DirectorRene PerezStarsNicole StarkKyle ClarkeJohn ScuderiWhen serial killer Havoc escapes from his prison, there is no holding back. He descends upon unsuspecting lovers in their cabin get away. The world's most brutal killer is loose and his thirst for blood cannot be stopped. The killer escapes from the poorly-executed scenario of the first two movies... and finds his own European woman to stalk in an isolated cabin. So basically, the same movie for a third time, but now with even less plot.
4/10 - DirectorRene PerezStarsRobert BronziEmily SweetRichard TysonA law enforcement officer is forced to go rogue when an unthinkably cruel and dangerous maniac murders innocent victims in gruesome ways. This movie... starts with a clip show of the previous three, and ends with discount Charles Bronson fistfighting the killer. Or rather, it just kinda stops a bit after that. Which is how they all end, they just stop without resolution. Saying this is the worst Playing With Dolls movie does not do justice to how bad of a movie it is just in general.
3/10 - DirectorDrew MarvickStarsCameron Lee VampLeeAnna VampJohn MolinaroWhat started out as a relaxing summer day by the pool for a group of high maintenance young socialites quickly becomes a nightmare when an unknown killer begins stalking and murdering them one by one.A horror comedy that doesn't have much to offer as either. The juvenile jokes go on for way too long, and the effects are on-par with a high school film project. Also, not even enough nudity to be worth it for that. (3/10)
- DirectorBoris von SychowskiStarsKristen MillerElena UhligPaul T. GrasshoffInternational students at an elite Prague school are stalked and murdered while holding a party in an abandoned water park.Another one of those slasher-type movies where they've got a cool-looking killer stalking young people in an interesting location, but ends up feeling like everything else only exists to facilitate that setup. (5/10)
- DirectorEdwin BrownStarsDebbie ThuresonSteve BondLori LethinThree couples go on a camping trip in the woods of southern California during the summer, where a deformed man is stalking their camp.A solid people getting killed in the woods movie, but not incredibly memorable. It has neither the excellent cinematography of Just Before Dawn, or the absurd trashiness of Don't Go in the Woods, just landing kinda middle of the road. (5/10)
- DirectorJason WinnSet in 1992, during a hallucinogenic drug nightmare infused with illicit partying and forbidden sex, young ravers discover the murderous world of the DeadThirsty.A movie from 2018, set in 1992, that looks like it's set in 2002. It felt like they were trying to make a statement, but any intent just got lost under characters shouting at each other for no reason in particular. (3/10)
- DirectorDavid Ryan KeithStarsMark WoodLisa CameronLisa LivingstoneWhat begins as a exciting camping trip to the legendary Redwood murder site, takes a terrifying turn when the innocent campers discover the legend is about to become a nasty and bloody reality.A woodsy slasher with just enough torture porn to make you suspicious that they were just trying to pad out the run time. The only real notable aspect is how incredibly Scottish it is. (4/10)
- DirectorDavid Ryan KeithStarsDanielle HarrisDamien PucklerGary KasperThe hunters become the hunted after a stranger obsessed with the Redwood Farm murders convinces bereaved family members to venture into the wilderness in hope of proving the existence of the notorious burlap masked maniac.A sequel that despite directly following the original, isn't sure if it's set in the UK or US. They also give the killer a new backstory that's even less interesting than the first one. Overall, just a movie that you wait for to end. (4/10)
- DirectorLazRael LisonStarsLeslie EasterbrookRichmond ArquetteTom WrightSeveral college students are brutally murdered in a small college town and the killer is still on the loose. In an attempt to seek the truth, a journalism student misguidedly finds herself in a storm of intrigue, jealousy, devil worship, and the haunting of misunderstood forces that roam the college town. Will she discover the town's long buried secrets? Or will she find out that some secrets are better left concealed?A shaky enough movie on its own, but given a weird and completely unnecessary framing device that only gets worse as it goes bouncing around between various plots and times. So basically, a total mess of a movie. (3/10)
- DirectorJon BinkowskiStarsNeil Brown Jr.Arian AshMichele SimmsScare Zone is Oliver's pride and joy. Sure, it's just another strip-mall Halloween Horror House, but as always, he's put his heart and soul into it. The attraction is open for three nights only, and Oliver has brought back his old staff, including ex-con Spider, eager bride-to-be Summer, and the enigmatic Goth princess Claire. A bunch of newbies are also on board, including earnest young Darryl, who immediately finds himself bewitched by the creepy Claire. The dysfunctional 'scream team' learns to work together while someone or something is out to make the horror REAL.Another "Murder in the haunted attraction" movie, and one that is something of a mixed bag. Overall entertaining, but a bit all over the place at times, never really seeming sure exactly how far to lean in any one direction. (5/10)
- DirectorKeith WalleyStarsLuciano SaberKate NorbyCory AlmeidaA group of young filmmakers encounter a serial killer while shooting their first independent movie. One of those horror movies about people making a horror movie, which I generally like. - DirectorCary HillStarsWendy WygantSteve RudzinskiKevin 'ohGr' OgilvieA failed amusement park owner devises a plan to commit gruesome murders in the park as a publicity stunt to sell tickets.A fairly decent movie about employees getting murdered during an after hours party at an amusement park. Unfortunately, all promotional materials give away the big plot reveal, essentially making it all pointless. Also, the much-advertised Doug Bradly appearance is just a cameo.
5/10 - DirectorGus TrapaniStarsRick RodgersRebbeca KlimekRoderick KlimekThe sheriff of a small southern town struggles to keep it's occupants safe when a masked maniac begins taking lives.A movie that is competently made, but one that I have no idea why anyone would waste their time making. I've seen movies with no story before, but this one doesn't even have a concept. Even Doctor Bloodbath had a concept beyond "man kills." This movie does not. It is just a series of events occurring on screen.

But when the mysterious Carrie shows up, the other counselors start disappearing one by one.For a "wacky slasher comedy" it could have been worse, but not better. It's got the lovely and talented Felissa Rose though, with accompanying Sleepaway Camp references. So, that's something. (3/10)
- DirectorAndy MilliganStarsBouvierDan Foster-JonesMichael LunsfordA masked killer is killing off doctors, nurses, and patients at a poorly run Los Angeles hospital.A horror comedy that makes Scary Movie seem reserved and sophisticated by comparison. - DirectorBrad TwiggStarsRichie AcevedoTony AtlasJulio Bana FernandezRandy is an awkward groundskeeper who is obsessed with professional wrestling. Longing for a sense of belonging with grandiose dreams of becoming a wrestling superstar, Randy is only met with abject humiliation and alienation. A brutal shaming at a local wrestling school pushes Randy over the edge and lights the spark for his blood lust. Clad in wrestling gear and armed with homicidal rage, Randy sets out on a blood soaked rampage to punish those who wronged him. With each ghastly kill, Randy takes a trophy from his tormentors to add to a wrestling title-belt crafted from human flesh. The only hope of putting an end to his reign of carnage lies with Becky, an understanding client who is one of the few to ever show him kindness.A movie with an interesting premise, but also one that almost completely fails to deliver on that potential in that premise. The actual build to "Killer wrestler movie" is slow at first, but then just kinda happens. The part that should have been the major story arc of the movie is relegated to a weird murder montage, while spending way too much time with the weird other plot about loan sharks. And like, the two storylines do end in the same place, but much less intersecting purposefully than just awkwardly colliding. The wrestling action is good, and there is some fun to be found here, but all of the positive qualities just make you wish the rest of the movie were better.
4/10 - DirectorJohn CarterStarsDavid BroadnaxRita JenretteTom CantrellAmericans on vacation in the Caribbean take a tour of a nearby island at night and watch a local voodoo ritual. Soon after, they find themselves stranded on the island and under attack by unseen foes. One by one they meet violent ends. This is very much the kind of movie that you have to temper your expectations for. You might expect that Zombie Island Massacre would feature some kind of zombie massacre, on an island, and if you did, you would be greatly disappointed. There is a zombie, there is and island, and there is a massacre which takes place on the island where the zombie is seen, but does not involve that or any other zombies in any way. So as long as you go into it expecting "Island Where A Zombie Is Briefly Seen Massacre," then it's overall a fairly decent viewing experience. However, there is a somewhat disappointing ending that just kinda throws out all of the potentially-interesting possibilities in favor of a dull but unexpected twist.
