Japanese "Desperate living"
fertilecelluloid19 February 2005
This ultra-low budget pink film, from director Tomoaki Hosoyama, more correctly translates as "Lesbian Colony", not "Lesbian Harem".

Two cute lesbians (the only kind I'm interested in), who have recently been outed and ostracized, head for the countryside where they take refuge from conservative opinion in a colony of lesbians ruled by an androgynous Queen.

This film shares common values with John Waters' DESPERATE LIVING, a classic fairytale in which two women, fleeing a murder scene, head for the town of Mortville where criminals can live scot-free, their crimes excused.

The only "crime" the women of this film commit is being dykes.

The film has a strange, dream-like atmosphere at times and the erotic sequences, though not plentiful, are stimulating.

Though IMDb only lists three of Mr. Hosoyama's films, he has made close to ten features, half a dozen of which are pink films of varying standards. His first feature, FAMILY HOOKER, was a great start.
