Plot Summary

The saga of Mazhuddin Khan alias Immi, born in 1939 in Bombay, British India, as a eunuch whose mother Zeenat, in denial that she birthed him, refers to him as her younger brother. She attains fame and has an affair with Inder Kumar Bhalla, only to lose him years later to a younger actress, Chitra. Embittered, she sets out to seek vengeance, takes to gambling and alcohol, isolates and alienates herself from the film-world, and then must deal with the news that Immi has become the 'father' of a male child, Murad. In the end, it is Immi who saves her from total self destruction. Written by rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

Trivia In a 1996 interview with Rajiv Shukla, Shahrukh said that he asked for the director's phone number from Anupam Kher, called her and said he would be interested in the role of Immi. After discussing the script, both wanted to make the film together. However, Shahrukh requested that the film begins shooting in September of the following year (this meeting was in December of previous year). According to Shahrukh, she called around February and said she would not like to wait longer and will go ahead and make the movie with another actor. See more »
