Haldane "Buzz" Holmstrom (1909-1946) was a man with a dream. He built his own rowboat and used it to row from the Green River to the part of the Colorado River in back of Hoover Dam in 1937, becoming the first man to ever do so. Then he did it again to make this movie.

This is one of those accomplishments that fill me with a sense of confusion. There are lots of things that people hope to accomplish that I understand. There are lots of things that people hope to accomplish that I don't understand, but I can accept. Then there are things that people hope to accomplish that are an utter bafflement to me, and this is one of them.

Amos Burg shot some nice pictures of Holmstrom failing to kill himself, and the narration was provided by Paul Douglas. I thought Douglas' first movie was LETTER TO THREE WIVES. It turns out he had been doing narration for short subjects since 1936.
