Sex & Nudity

  • Two woman ask for milk in a bar but get their request rejected, but a couple of men offer milk in a way that suggests something, but at a cost. This makes the women uncomfortable.
  • Several animated women wear low cut tops that reveal cleavage.
  • A loose looking female character makes a rueful sounding remark implying she regrets that she didn't get the chance to sleep with Vash (he was asleep or so it seemed to her)
  • Two females are tied up fully clothed and dialogue heavily implies they will be raped and killed. No clothing is shed and the threat is averted speedily.
  • Some minor characters/antagonists are pervy, but no sex or nudity is present.
  • A love scene is implied, but all that is seen is the man shirtless smoking a cigarette, and the woman fully clothed in pajamas sleeping afterwards.
  • Vash is told to get onto the ground and act like a dog, which includes him being naked but it isn't sexual and he does it to save someone . Convenient censoring covers any real nudity, although his rear end can be seen a couple of times. B
  • A character is groped in episode 17.
  • There is implied rape between two characters in a flashback, but then also said to have been falsified to set a guy up.

Violence & Gore

  • There's a villain who possesses a psychic ability to force people to do things against their will. In one prolonged scene, he forces dozens of people to either kill themselves or kill others. These acts, although mostly offscreen, are quite disturbing. What makes it worse is that the villain seems to enjoy doing this.
  • A villain with a large gun kills nearly everyone in a town, men, women, and children. Very stylized and not too gruesome.
  • Several shootouts, and bar fights. Most gunfights actually end in no casualties, as the protaganist has a strict no kill policy.
  • The antagonists however, are not so noble and dozens of people die by their hands. The deaths are not graphic (barring one or two exceptions), but they are clearly defined. Those people are shot, stabbed, and their limbs move not of their own accord.
  • A man is shot several times in a notable instance of bloody violence.

Profanity

  • There's quite a bit of profanity actually. I'm in the first ten minutes of the first episode and so far there's been at least 5 instances.
  • "Damn", "ass", "shit", and "bastard" are used intermittently.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One character smokes a lot.
  • The main character gets drunk on a couple of occasisons.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Many characters wish for a innocent character to die and go to great lengths to make sure they do in order to survive in a cruel world.
  • There is a villain who can control people against their will and uses it to torture people. Usually doesn't show anything too graphic.
  • Hostage situations and shootouts, though most of them are done lightheartedly and comically in the beginning of the series. Towards the end of the show many shootouts are deadly and have elements of psychological terror due to a villain.
  • The show takes a dark turn toward the middle of the series, which includes images of mass murder, as well as intense psychological conflict. Not to mention that there are a couple of brutal scenes involving the main villain.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • It is implied the main character is suicidal after killing a villain.
  • Several characters become/are suicidal or commit suicide. Never too graphic, but pretty disturbing. Many villains commit suicide just to torment Vash.
