Sex & Nudity

  • A footballer has sex with a young lady. They are under the bed covers and no nudity is seen.
  • The players are seen in the showers after a game. Several bare backsides are shown. A lady enters and hands them towels to wrap around their waists.

Violence & Gore

  • One of the players punches a rival who makes sexual remarks about his wife during a match. He is sent off and several discussions follow about his propensity for being sent off in matches. A radio announcer later informs listeners that the violence spilled over into the crowd and a dozen spectators were arrested and three hospitalised, although this occurs off-camera. Other fights subsequently occurred in the city.
  • Opposition supporters bail a player and his wife up in the stairwell of their hotel and throw a bottle at them. The player then punches the supporters, leading to a fight, and he ends up in gaol. We later hear that the supporters were both hospitalised.

Profanity

  • Over 40 uses of f*ck or one of its derivatives.
  • One use each of three religious profanities.
  • Approximately 5 uses each of arse and shit (or shite).
  • One or two uses each of bastard, piss, fart, crap, shag, bollocks, tosser, wanker and prick.
  • Two or three rude arm gestures from spectators.
  • Four spectators have the letters of A R S E painted on their chests.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the footballers has a drinking problem which he discusses with his ex-wife. He claims to be sober these days but admits to drinking a few beers with the boys but no "hard stuff". A half-full bottle of whiskey later falls out of his car and she remonstrates with him.
  • Many of the scenes are set in pubs (bars) with players and supporters drinking beer and whiskey and smoking cigarettes.
  • The owner and manager celebrate their success with a glass of champagne.
  • The players spray several bottles of champagne around the dressing room after a victory. They also spray champagne and beer from the top of a bus in celebrating another win.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A young boy is seen writing partisan graffiti, as opposition supporters approach. He is rescued before the hooligans see him and no harm is caused. Later discussion in the media make the situation sound more intense than it really was. It prompts discussion about the dangers and stupidity of religious and football rivalry.
