An odd psycho-sexual drama
msatyr21 March 2008
The film concerns the sexual awakening of Billy, an inept teenager who undergoes a series of humiliating, but nevertheless arousing experiences. His peculiar traumatic experiences cause him to develop an insecurity about his ability to have a sexual relationship with a woman, as well as a fetish for peanut butter. A young John Holmes, affecting an Irish accent, plays a seeming friend who piles further humiliation upon Billy. Finally Billy meets a soul mate, but we are left with an ambivalent conclusion. The non-consensual situations may leave some uncomfortable, but watching Billy's bumbling early sexual experiences be even more trying. Notable performances by Helen Madigan and Constance Money.

About As Crazy and Fun As You're Going to Get

Confessions of a Teenage Peanut Butter Freak (1975)

*** (out of 4)

Billy (Zachary Strong) is a rather weird young man who doesn't have a very good way with women. Several women want him but he just can't ever finish the deal. He goes home with one woman and before long he's telling her about his peanut butter fixation and how it tied into some of his weird sexual stories.

With a title like CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE PEANUT BUTTER FREAK you had better live up to it and thankfully the movie does. I pride myself in trying to track down and watch some of the strangest movies out there and there's no question that this here might be the king of really weird movies that is constantly shocking you and making you laugh. You know you're in trouble whenever John Holmes plays the most normal person in a movie.

What's so great about this movie is the fact that it's willing to do just about anything for a laugh. The "story" is told in a serious way but the situations that young Billy finds himself in are just downright strange and their weirdness leads to laughs. You've got him banging family members, there's a sequence where a woman is attacked by two men who during the act let something slip about their sexuality and yes you have the peanut butter stuff. This film just offers up one weird situation after another and it would be the perfect film to show a drunken crowd of people.

There are plenty of sex scenes throughout the picture with Holmes showing up during the final act. The film works so well because of how funny it is. Not only are the sexual situations funny but so is the dialogue. Strong is quite good in the lead role because he just really seems like this weird character. He also directed and co-wrote the screenplay so it's obviously something very close to him.

The 70's offered up many great porno films and this one here deserves to be mentioned among them. It's certainly the strangest that I've seen from the genre.

Bizarre, but funny and enjoyable
Woodyanders8 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Bumbling teenager Billy (an endearingly awkward portrayal by Zachary Strong, who also wrote and directed) suffers serious hang-ups about sex due to his weird fetish for peanut butter and painful feelings of insecurity pertaining to relating to women.

Strong astutely captures the hopeless clumsiness of his odd and klutzy, yet still likeable and sympathetic protagonist as well as maintains an idiosyncratic off-kilter tone that neatly mixes quirky dark humor and wrenching pathos. The sex scenes are quite kinky, raunchy, and arousing, with the definite hot highlights being when Billy loses his virginity to his lecherous Aunt Opel (slender Jacque Hanson in a granny wig) and a scorching girl/girl make-out session between the brash Rene (spiky Karen Reed) and foxy gal pal Debbie (the delectable Constance Money in her hardcore debut). Lovely buxom brunette Helen Madigan contributes an appealing turn as the sweet and tender Priscilla while the legendary John Holmes and his monstrously massive mutant moose member make a special guest appearance. Essential viewing for fans of deliciously dirty'n'deviant Golden Age adult cinema fare.

A tale of abuse
mmcgee28219 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This looked close to the mainstream mature family comedy ," The 40 year old virgin," but it was not.In this case he was experienced,Zachary Strong playing Billy. This story comes close to the real actors life that he had experienced abuse as a child and as a adult the kinbd that anti porn forces would exploit, but, in this case it's selfish women who would not be equally concerned about Billies needs causing him to be awkward towards sex. It's so bad that he can't even ask Brenda ,played by Kandi Johnson, to go to his place. His wife at the time actress Molly Seagrim plays a actress doing a commercial on peanut butter. It had dawn on me that she looks like Carolyn Jones playing Mortisha. You also have product promotion on this film ,rare for an xxx film, of course this was the 70's and family big business was regulated.Strong where a tea shirt in some scenes that have the Planters peanut guy on it and in a grocery store Jiffy peanut butter shown right in front of the camera as the Billy character open it up to take a like of it.Beautiful Helen Madigan is a friend of Billy working as a gas attendant .She invited him over to tell her experience of abuse with two hot studs. One handsome black guy Lester ,played by Malcolm Healy, and a very lean white guy ,George ,played by Charles Swanson, which in the beginning it looks like it's going to be rape ,but, it ends up as consent,The problem occurs when both hot studs leave poor Helen dried and empty ,not getting her of, sound like the experience I have had sometimes. Billies abusive three way between his cousin Rene, played by Karen Reed, and her friend ,played by Constance money , her first appearance, is a hot lesbian tryst that ends is a strap on ,until Billy comes in ,Turns into a hot threesome.Constance sits on his nose. Double licking with Strong's Schlong between Karen and Constance ending with Karen getting on top of him , leaving him empty and dried too.The hotter scene is with Helen and him, whose she in love with.He becomes satisfied cause it turns out he wanted love ,not just sex.The Jewish wedding scene of both couples in which she bites the bread with jam he is suppose to bite the bread of peanut butter they are married, but all of a sudden he not too sure if he wants to bite the bread and go through the wedding .Could it be that she manipulated him? Maybe he should go to Honorable Mr Jones? John Holmes ,great great grand nephew of Sherlock, ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!,just teasing, shows up as Billies abusive friend Tries to set him up with Gloria ,played by Veronica Taylor, who ends up with John Holmes Schlong. Now the print is good ,but not excellent. It's obvious that they did not digitally restored it ,but, remastered the surviving elements instead.Odd ,unusual, shot at the area where it one of the few places ,at the time where it was legal ,San Francisco. " San Francisco ! open your Golden Gate! Don't let that stranger wait". Oh! Don't forget to see Herman the car that shows up earlier in the film. Released by Vinegar Syndrome .Home of the Trashy movies. 10/19/19
