Mumbai, Nov 12: Rise and fall is part and parcel of life, and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt makes no bones about his own. He says "resurrection", for him, began only once he hung up his boots as director and decided to search and promote new talent.
The 64-year-old National award-winning filmmaker traced his growth trajectory in the 1980s and first half of 1990s.
"I directed 10 films - 'Arth', 'Saaransh', 'Janam', 'Naam', 'Kaash', 'Kabza', 'Thikana', 'Awaargi', 'Daddy' and 'Jurm' in the 1980s. Five of them were pathbreaking films.
"In the first half of the 1990s, I directed seven hits - 'Aashiqui', 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin',.

The latest to lead a tirade in that direction is Shagufta Rafique, a writer (of films like Raaz 3, Jism 2, Raaz - The Mystery Continues) and close confidante of Mahesh Bhatt, who has openly criticised Ekta Kapoor on a public forum for her recent film The Dirty Picture. Shagufta's recent post on a social networking site said, "When Mahesh Bhatt makes Gangster, Ekta Kapoor makes Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. When he makes Woh Lamhe on the life of an actor, she tells the story...

Now, Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala, the director duo, are back with Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt's Jashnn - The Music Within. "Bhatt-saab once said that to make a successful film, you need to incorporate something that is a part of your own life. So that's what we did. Jashnn is about a nobody, vying to be a somebody, just like us. Also, this one's an original, hence the time gap," Raksha justifies. Unlike their previous two, this film is a complete original. Rumor has it that Mahesh Bhatt has 'directed' portions of the film. "Several scenes from the film are as emotional as his Janam and Saaransh, so he needed to be there to guide us. Bhatt-saab hasn't directed Jashnn, but we'd still say that it's a Mahesh Bhatt film,...
