Storyline

Pooja has been brought up by her grandparents, and has no recollection of her mom and dad. She is told by her grandpa, Kantaprasad, that her dad had passed away. Years later, Pooja has now grown up. She starts getting mysterious phone calls from a male who merely says "I love you", and hangs-up. When her grandpa has these phone calls traced, the caller is Anand, Pooja's dad. Kantaprasad has him beaten up, and warns him against contacting Pooja again. When Pooja is being molested by a male in her apartment building, Anand comes to her rescue, and it is then Pooja comes to know that this shabby, alcoholic man is her dad. DADDY(1989) was another great film by Mahesh Bhatt which is somewhat based on his life in the sense he was an alcoholic. The film also introduces his daughter Pooja Bhatt. The film is a drama brilliantly handled with great performances Im unaware of it's B.O. but yet it's still known for it's brilliant theme and it's execution.

The film doesn't have any diversion but sticks to the main plot and hence didn't get much business perhaps but yet thats one of the strong assets

Direction by Mahesh Bhatt is great Music is mostly situational and the songs are good

Anupam Kher after SARAANSH gives yet another brilliant performance in a Bhatt film, he is simply marvellous showcasing his versatility, Pooja Bhatt in her debut was raw but does do a good sincere job, Raj Jhutsi is superb, Avtar Gill is good in a cameo, Sulbha Arya is good,Soni Razdan is great in a small role,Manohar Singh is brilliant, Neena Gupta, Akash Khurana in cameos are good, Satish Kaushik is apt in a small role, pramod Moutho is goodrest are okay
