- The film is a very dark comedy. However there are some more dramatic moments, such as Billy's parents neglecting him and their general irreverence towards him.
- Billy's father kills his childhood pet dog. Very brief and off-screen but some may find it distressing

- A scene containing two graphic shootings (that freeze time and pan around the characters being shot) takes place at the end. Entry wounds, exit wounds, and blood are shown. All of this is in Billy's mind.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- Throughout the movie Billy mentions about how he wants to kill a man named Scott Woods. Eventually, he says goodbye to Layla and tells Goon that he's going to do it. We see in slow motion him shoot and kill Woods before turning the gun on himself. However, this is revealed to all be inside his mind, and he leaves without actually killing Woods, with a rather uplifting ending coming instead
