Letter to Daniel Costelle
red_river_hn31 March 2005
Unknown Images - the Vietnam War, 3 parts were shown on Vietnam Television on 3 Thursdays of March 2005 and were highly appreciated in Vietnam. During the display of the film, many Vietnamese sent letters to Vietnam Television and most of them agreed on the contents of the film. As a Vietnamese born after the war time, I was very impressed with the film. Of all 3 parts, Part 2 was the most interesting even caused a shock to us, when the film showed the most modern weapons of the American troops and the loss in 1968 Tet offensive. Thank you, Daniel Costelle and Isabelle Clarke, as well as France 3 Television and production company, for the film that makes our generations who lived or were born during and after the war remember and understand the past of our nation. The war is the pains, and we should always appreciate the value of the peace we've got today.

I have a question to Daniel Costell, I saw you on Vietnam TV before Part 3 was shown, and you answered at the short interview that you had seen 20,000 rolls of American documentary film before making the 3-part series film. My question is what did you think after viewing them? I heard some pictures were not chosen as they may be unbearable for the Americans. I know you are very busy with lots of work, and don't hope you will have time to reply to me, however I still wish to send my question to you.

Thank you for your attention, and all the best to you and your family.
