Upon hearing off the bat that Manny would be absent from "Caught in the Act," I didn't see any way that I'd enjoy the latest episode of Modern Family.
Then, Phil reacted to his kids walking in on him and his wife having sex by complimenting her "zesty performance;" calmly ate breakfast off the floor while Claire panicked over the incident; and assured her it would be different than her awful experience of doing the same with her parents because they're in better shape.
By that point, I was laughing so hard that I forgot Manny's name.

More than any episode in recent memory, this installment centered on just one storyline.
Yes, Gloria and Jay stopped by the house, but mostly just to have another misunderstanding-based conversation (a trope the show falls back on too often. Last week, it involved Manny, Jay's golf game and a couple's belief that Jay was going senile).

Should you have missed last week's very funny episode, "Our Children, Ourselves," catch up with my review here.
This week's hysterical episode, "Caught in the Act," was about the different impressions people make. Each of the family units was faced with the fallout arising from their mistaken actions: Mitchell and Cameron try to impress the restaurateur parent of one of Lily's classmates and ruin her expensive home decor; Gloria tries to recover a harshly worded email she accidentally sent to Claire; and Claire and Phil try to make amends after their children catch them having sex. None of these plots are particularly novel (I think sitcom kids have been walking in on their parents having sex since TV shows started showing married couples sleeping in the same bad), but the skill with which the plots were executed proves yet again that Modern Family is one of, if not the, top comedy currently on television.

Travellers *½
Stars: Dean Jagger, Shane Sweeney, Tom Geoffrey, Celia Muir | Written and Directed by Kris McMaus
Usually when things go wrong on holiday, it’s because your flight was cancelled or the luxurious five-star resort you were promised in the brochure turns out to be a building site. Travellers sees four friends confronting horrors greater than those of a budget airline as they embark upon a motorcycle break in the country and things take a turn for the worse when they anger a group of Irish nomads.
After stumbling into a pub where they’re greeted with all the joy and cheer of the locals from An American Werewolf In London, they ask a farmer (Charley Boorman) if they can spend the night on his land. Hiking into the countryside, they pitch up, only for one of their group to deface a nearby caravan. Caught in the act by the owners,...

We’ve featured this film many times Here on this site, and now Tina Mabry’s award winning feature debut, Mississippi Damned, is finally travelling overseas and making its UK premiere at the 24th BFI London & Gay Film Festival, which runs from 17-31 March this year.
If you’re not already familiar with the film, the blurb on the BFI website reads:
Stark and confrontational, the award-winning Mississippi Damned is an ensemble drama that follows the dreams and disappointments of three African American children in poor rural Mississippi. Struggling to overcome the cyclical violence and poverty of their family, each dreams of a brighter future: butch dyke Leigh with her flirtatious high school girlfriend; Sammy with a college basketball scholarship; and Kari, the youngest, with a career as a pianist. However, as each discovers, they will have to confront their family’s past if they are to overcome that which binds them,...

Regardless if people are still watching and some people feel strongly that NBC’s Heroes has run its course, the network is still promoting the show and still airing it. With the season finale (and perhaps the end of the show entirely) weeks away, NBC has sent us some videos giving you a behind the scenes look and interviews with some of the cast.
In the videos, you can go on the set and get an inside look at the show. Plus, you can how the cast and crew work together in the filming of each episode and hear from stars Masi Oka and Greg Grunberg during some of their downtime on set.
Even if the show’s future may be incertain, it’s still nice to see that the cast is behind their show and willing to talk about it in order to keep fans interested. Normally, I would...
