- A calendar hangs on the wall of a workshop with the nude image on Marilyn Monroe. A kid briefly stares at it as he runs by.
- While never directly discussed, the movie implies the rape/molestation of several young children by a serial killer. These references are subtle enough that younger children likely will not realize what is being discussed.
- Frankie knees Gino in the crotch. Gino then screams that they need to call a doctor so that they can save his unborn child.
- Frankie threatens to tell on Gino for masturbating under the covers at night.
- Two boys mock Frankie for having a crush on Mary-Ellen, a girl from his class.
- Frankie`s teacher asks him to tell his father to call her, implying that she`d like to go on a date with his father.
- A grandmother uses a rectal thermometer on Gino, but he is covered up by the blankets on his bed.
Violence & Gore

- A boy punches another boy.
- A boy frightens another boy with a Halloween mask, causing him to fall off his bike into wet cement and cut his knee. Blood is seen.
- An elderly man's leg catches fire because he drops a cigarette down his pants (played for comedy; the man is not seriously hurt by this).
- A young girl is strangled by an invisible attacker. Later, she is shown screaming and struggling as she is flung over a cliff. Her body is seen from a great distance.
- A woman kills herself by leaping off a cliff. Her body is not seen.
- A woman talks about how she wanted to kill herself, and earlier in the film it mentions that she tried to burn herself to death in her own home but that she was rescued and sent to a mental hospital instead.
- A boy kicks another boy in the crotch.
- A man chases a boy around in a rural area and then tries to kill him. A woman knocks him out and saves the boy. That same woman is later on strangled to death by the man.
- A man kills himself by letting himself fall off a cliff.
- The death of a boy`s mother is discussed.
- In a scene intended to be more comedic than scary, a boy tells two of his friends that he has "found something" in the haunted house they have sneaked into at night. His friends ask him what it is. He tells them with a smile, "it's the beast... that destroyed... LONDON!" and he holds up a baby alligator in their faces. It hisses at them, and they scream, calling the boy a profane word. The boy is bitten by the alligator, and he tosses it up into the air. It nearly lands on another boy's face, and he screams, moving out of the way. The alligator hits the hard floor but walks away, unharmed.
- Several racist phrases are aimed at the school janitor, and after an unconscious Frankie is discovered by the cops, they automatically assume that the janitor hurt him. The detective later states that he's, "the perfect scapegoat, because he's black." His wife and children are treated as outcasts after he is sent to prison. One woman, who said nasty things about him to his wife, apologizes to him after he is proven innocent and released. However, she then shoots him in the head, killing him. Blood is seen, and the woman collapses, obviously insane by that point. The man's wife is found by Frankie's father, who tries to comfort her but then finds out that she's been injured by the same bullet that killed her husband. She walks away in shock and grief.
- A rat crawls across a railing and into a boy's lap. In disgust, he kicks it onto the ground below.
Profanity

- A child says the N-word and t*t.
- A young boy uses a racial slur. He is immediately corrected by another child, but he mocks the "correct" word.
- Several instances of mild swearing throughout.
- Some sex words/jokes, like "do it under the covers", which most younger viewers probably won't pick up on.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- The grandfather repeatedly smokes and has to find new ways to hide his cigarettes from the grandmother as a joke within the film.
- Alcoholic beverages in glasses are seen in the background of a few scenes.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- The movie's entire premise directly relates to the murder of a young child, whose violent death is re-enacted several times. Her limp body is shown floating in the air as she is carried away by an invisible attacker. No details (blood, etc) are shown, but the effect is frightening.
- All the "ghosts" in the movie are presented in an eerie, frightening way, although it is soon revealed that their characters are benign and protective.
- Adults discuss the murder of several children while a young boy eavesdrops.
- Throughout the last portion of the film, a young boy is in peril from a trusted adult who tries to murder him. These scenes show the boy hiding and running from the man in a dramatic manner that may be scary for young viewers. The boy is rescued and the man dies in a fall.
