Minor-league mystery about a minor-league sports writer turned investigative reporter who follows a mysterious woman, who has been sending him information about an unresolved 25-year-old disappearance (and possible murder) case, all the way to a private island inhabited only by a slow-witted young man. However, someone very powerful is prepared to do anything to keep the old skeletons hidden in the closet....This "whodunit?" is more of a "who-is-who?" actually, but I won't say any more to avoid spoilers. The film switches clumsily from serious mystery to light comedy and back again (it is by NO means a horror film, as suggested by the "Boathouse" IMDb cover), but it has occasional smart lines ("Let's hope he hasn't seen "Halloween" yet), and I have to admit I really loved Wendy Crewson's hair. It sounds like a strange observation, I know, but her hair makes look warm, sophisticated and adventurous. ** out of 4.

Opinions differ greatly when it comes to most things, however my decision to give his movie a whopping ten stars is mainly due to the nostalgic feeling the music evokes in me. I was an 80s child and it takes me back. The humor is smooth ("Do you plan on 'cuddling' Wolf into submission?") etc and I really think the portrayal of Stanley is a crackup, (as well as the 'crazy broad').
I like the stars and the over all feeling of the movie is fun (despite being a 'cheap thrill' drowned in horror FX).
If your idea of an awesome movie contains innocently-staged, overly dramatic antics, mixed with a typically 80's soundtrack (A bit ghetto and electronic) and whose plot line emphasis is on the 'slow and bubbly' side, then this one is for you!

This film stinks. A man follows a woman to an island to find out what has happened to a guy named Theodore Wolff. They never quite explain what is going on throughout the movie. There is a fat retard called Boyd or Stanley.( Pick one! ) It also tries to be funny when it's not. In the end there are no murders that you see, and the film is left a complete mess. 1 out of 10.
