I was only ever given the chance to see Bananaman if an episode of Danger Mouse happen to run a few minute short... Nevertheless it is one of my favorite childhood TV experiences. The absurdities present throughout every situation and character and cell are simply a delight. It never tries to take itself seriously, but doesn't resort to the inane in its attempt to entertain. Bananaman is a quite little show that, as far as I know, doesn't have a single dissenting viewer... we all loved Bananaman... all of us.

Growing up in the 80's, I used to watch this cartoon which was so stupid I laughed every time it was on. I loved the begining and end theme songs so much that after the show I used to whistle it because I couldn't get it out of my head. Favorite quote: "This banana is loaded and I wont hesitate to use it". Funny cartoon.

"This is 29, Acacia Road. And this is Eric, the schoolboy who leads an
exciting double life. For when Eric eats a banana, an amazing
transformation
occurs. Eric is Bananaman."
Nostalgic cartoon from the 80's which I watched religiously for some
reason,
voiced by members of "The Goodies" (I've only just now discovered that!).
The theme tune, the opening speech, the nutty one liners and the loveable
but inept 'Bananaman'all bring back cool childhood telly
memories.

Have a banana!, 9 August 2005

Bananaman is a great show. I must've watched each episode half a dozen
times (ABC had great afternoon kids shows, but not a whole lot of
variety). The way he ate bananas was great, I just wish they'd do a
crossover with 'Bananas in Pyjamas', but they might have to put it on
later at night.
I always wondered what would happen if Eric ate an apple or a
watermelon. At least they wouldn't be quite as suggestive as a banana.
I mean it's bad enough dressing up like a fruit...but a banana!!?? All
up, good show, wish they still made it, but I suppose then the networks
would have to show one less of those Nickelodeon shows. Give me a
sexually ambiguous, man-boy bananaman anyday!

Aaargh, it's worse than a rotten banana, 27 July 2006

As I was watching the show I started thinking:" What is the target
audience?" It was just so stupid that even kids wouldn't get anything
from it. Bananaman is made extremely cheap, it's boring as hell, and
full of stupid jokes that are just so stupid that I can't even describe
it. And on top of that, almost all of the "funny" elements are ripped
straight off old Disney cartoons. 3 points come from the fact that
usually when something is really bad, it makes it just a little funny
as it is. Well, bananaman is almost below that, and it deserves credit
for it.
I feel sorry for the people who are behind this disaster, it must have
been a career killer.
