Before the digital age, there was Polaroid

Everybody knows the French don't waste any time when it comes to the art of making love. At the start of "Perversions of a Young Bride", aka "French Blues" (?) we witness a couple (Ghislain van Hove and Danièle David ) just finishing a bout of intercourse, only to find out they are just friends. In fact, she's the best friend of his fiancée. Turns out they had some time on their hands while the bride, Marie-Christine (the legendary Brigitte Lahaie) is getting ready. So, the groom (already in his tux) and the best friend flip through Marie-Christine's scrapbook of love, a photo album featuring pictures of lovers and their private parts. Of course, each one has a story attached, and luckily Danièle knows them all. After all, every guy loves to hear about the sex live of the woman he loves.

Four flashbacks make up most of this film's running time. The first recounted encounter features Thierry de Brem as Alban being warmed up for La Lahaie by her maid Joelle (Jenny Feeling). Recollection # two is no fairy tale, this time Marie-C and Joelle have to submit to beastly Bruno (Alban Ceray)'s demands. Next up is the required lesbian interlude: Brigitte and Mandarine are trying on some clothes, but decide it would be more fun to try out each other. Of course the maid joins in as well. The last and least Backo de Flasho starts with Brigitte and Danièle in bed with two men, but Brigitte soon takes a back seat to watch Mademoiselle David try to take on both of their guests.

Finally the bride comes down stairs wearing virgin white (as if) and she's followed by the entire cast from all the flashbacks (who else could she invite). Also present is a justice of the piece, barely recognizable by a sash around his waist. You see, all the men are wearing the same style of rented tux. In fact, most of them conveniently wore this in the flashbacks too. Even though it has taken her hours to get into her wedding gown (and what were all the other people doing upstairs with her anyway?), as soon as she enters the living room (such a romantic setting for a wedding) the guests start undressing the bride and groom. Seems to me they all could have saved a lot of time and trouble, but oh well... A gong is struck, Frederique and Marie-Christine are wed, but before they can kiss, their swinging wedding guests are obliged to prepare the happy couple before they consummate their marriage. Yes, you guessed it, it becomes a great big orgy, preceded over by the guy in the sash.

The entire film was shot in just two rooms of somebody's mansion (how did they explain the stains in the living room after wards?) and while Brigitte Lahaie is her usual spellbinding self, the other three women really don't hold a candle to her (which is ironic because in one of the scenes Lahaie is forced to hold two candles). Luckilly Brigitte is in every scene but one. The men are even harder to tell apart from one another, but that's because of those cheap tuxedo's they wear (most of the time). At least the photo album motive comes full circle, with Lahaie taking a Polaroid of her newest conquest. David Lynch fans could discuss the deeper meaning of the characters and their behavior forever.

French marriage rites - really?
augustian18 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
There is not much cinematography to praise in this French porn film as all the action takes place indoors, in two rooms. A couple are about to be married but first the groom is to find out just how promiscuous his bride-to-be (Brigitte Lahaie) is - or was. From the pages of a photo album, the maid goes over four episodes in the sex life of his dearly beloved - just the thing to make him love her more!

The first encounter is a fairly normal sex scene but watched over by the maid. Brigitte Lahaie gets all the action while the maid looks on. The second encounter is more brutal, the man taking both Miss Lahaie and the maid with not so much as a, by your leave. For some unknown reason, both women are required to hold a pair of candles, like a human candelabra. The third encounter is Miss Lahaie and her dress designer, although once the women meet, dress designs are soon forgotten, along with the dresses. The fourth encounter starts with two men and two women but Miss Lahaie is relegated to a spectator role.

For the final scene in which the happy couple are married, all the preceding characters come downstairs and all are soon stripped naked and indulging in the final orgy. Actually, the groom is not entirely naked, he is wearing a bow tie - just to distinguish him from the other men. By the way, this film gives a whole new meaning to the term, bridal shower. This is not the most entertaining of porn films but it passes the time.
