One of the best romanian movies
cipryx20009 August 2004
Personally is the romanian movie with the most impact over me.The script, the music, the directing...i like everything. And the acting it's awesome, specially Florin Piersic, one of the most important romanian actor. The movie it's about a few peasants ruled by Pintea(Florin Piersic) fighting for their land and rights. In their way they gain popularity despite that leader's messages that the one who will help them will be hung.Even in finally Pintea and his men will die do to a tricky plan of the nobles I guess that their mission was accomplished and the ones who'll follow must continue their fight against corrupted nobles. If you'll have a chance to see it, please do.

more than refuge
Vincentiu13 February 2012
in Romanian Comunist period, the history was a gun and a refuge. gun for propaganda in search to create perfect image of regime. gun for directors in desire to present a honest image of national past. refuge for public of a gray country. in this case the film is more than gun or refuge. it is a powerful exercise about heroism and dignity, truth and sacrifice, roots and victory. support for meditation and portrait of a martyr. a Maramures legendary figure becomes illustration of national conscience. behind Florin Piersic acting, impressive like a mountain river, is a very good director who gives importance to every detail. behind touching music and recreation of an old civilization is the spirit of past as skeleton for present. the final scene is pure poetry.a film about a slice of curuts revolt against Austria. and more that. a seed. for memory.

Pintea

the first duty about "Pintea" is to see it from the perspective of its time. for understand its profound beauty. the music, the landscapes, the story. sure, maybe Florin Piersic in the lead role was not the best choice. but he is a decent one. and he tries his the best to create a legendary hero, more mixture of old songs , myths than historical proofs. many details are sacrificed for the artistic motifs. but for its time, and, in a special way, for ours, it is a beautiful film. the political mark not could be ignored. but, after 40 decades, it seems be too small. because it is far to be a documentary. but a good occasion to resurrect the patriotic feelings. and this purpose remains noble yesterday and today.
