A Toast to Claude Mulot's Sensual Vintage 🥂🌙
MajesticMane12 June 2024
"Suprêmes jouissances," or "Supreme Delights" as it's known in English, is a frothy and fun foray into the world of three young women who decide to take a stand against their chauvinistic boyfriends. Directed by Claude Mulot, this 1977 French film offers a delightful blend of comedy, sensuality, and a touch of disco.

Martine, Mimi, and Doris are tired of their lazy and unappreciative boyfriends. In a bold move, they decide to rent a luxurious apartment and a manservant, embracing a decadent and independent lifestyle. However, their newfound freedom comes at a cost as they soon lose their jobs, and the manservant flees due to sexual harassment. Undeterred, the trio embraces their situation and decides to start a private brothel.

The three leading ladies, Martine Grimaud, Véronique Maugarski, and Brigitte Lahaie, embody the spirit of their characters with freshness and sensuality. They bring a playful and mischievous energy to the screen, making their sisterly bond believable and endearing. The supporting cast, including Gilles Karl and Alban Ceray, also deliver entertaining performances, adding to the film's comedic moments.

Director Claude Mulot infuses the film with an artistic sensibility, ensuring that the visuals are just as enticing as the story. The cinematography captures the decadence of the era, with lush interiors and a vibrant color palette. The 70's disco soundtrack, including sensual tunes, enhances the overall playful atmosphere.

While the film has its delights, there are a few drawbacks that prevent it from achieving true greatness. The plot, though entertaining, lacks depth and fails to explore the characters' motivations and emotions beyond the surface level. Additionally, the pacing sags in the middle portion, causing the film to lose some of its initial momentum.

"Suprêmes jouissances" is a fun and frivolous escape, perfect for viewers seeking a light-hearted romp. With a delightful cast, an enticing visual aesthetic, and a playful premise, it offers a charming glimpse into a world of female empowerment and sensual freedom. Despite its flaws.

So, if you're in the mood for a disco-era delight, let "Suprêmes jouissances" whisk you away to a world of supreme delights and frisky fun!🍇🍷

Three young women leave their chauvinist boyfriends, set up their own living situation, a luxurious apartment, and revel in their sexual freedom. The actresses are fresh and sensual. The director, Claude Mulot, doesn't lack an artistic sensibility, and the sensual 70's disco soundtrack makes it even better.
