Quotes

  • [after meeting the shapely Ticoora who is wearing a tight-fitting costume]

Lamser : What kind of jungle is this?

Dalton Kraik : I don't know, but I could learn to like it.

  • Dalton Kraik : Hey, Elephant Girl, I thought you knew your way around this cow pasture.

Ticoora : No one really knows the jungle, but I'll tell this much - if we'll never get out of here if we don't get started.

  • [first lines]

[a plane with four passengers is flying through a vicious thunderstorm over uncharted African jungle]

Dalton Kraik : Hey, Lamser, this is a laugh. Feds chase us all the way to Africa to nail us and we beat the rap.

Paul Cooper : Don't be too sure of that.

Dalton Kraik : I bet my hunches, Fly Boy. Right now I got a hunch that you're lost. Hey, Richards, lay you six-to-five your Cairo office cancels our boat reservations.

Kenneth Richards : Your bookmaking days are over, Kraik.

Dalton Kraik : Well, maybe. Right now I got a hunch Fly Boy doesn't know where he is or where he's goin'. Give you a pretty good price, Richards, on... .

Kenneth Richards : Save it, Kraik. You're through. It's birds like you that keep things stirred up in the world, especially the Near East. Stealing and selling war materias to revolutionists... Big business.

  • Lamser : [Eating a piece of wild fruit]  These things are looscious.

Dalton Kraik : Looscious? You mean they're delicious.

Lamser : What's the difference? Either way, they're tasty.

  • [discussing stealing Ticoora's million dollar trust fund]

Carl Easton : What are we kidding ourselves for, Kraik. Given time and freedom, maybe you could arrange it. When Cooper hands you over to the authorities in Cairo...

Dalton Kraik : No. No, Cooper isn't going to fly me out of here.

Carl Easton : I know he won't fly you out, but when he fixes that radio...

Dalton Kraik : He ain't gonna fix the radio.

    Carl Easton : Why?

    Dalton Kraik : [smirking]  Guess.

Carl Easton : Because you've wrecked it! That's what you did. You thought it would give you time; a chance to escape. You've escaped, all right - you've escaped to the worst prison on earth. There's no lawyer that get you out of this jail! The only thing you can do is appeal your sentence to that stinking jungle out there. Fever, quicksand, savages, beasts!

Dalton Kraik : Get off the soapbox.

Carl Easton : Soapbox? Why do you think I've been dying a slow death here for 12 years? Because no one has ever been able to get out of here until today. You've ruined it. You've condemned us here for life.

    [Easton starts to laugh hysterically]

  • Carl Easton : This is absolute madness. We can't go on like this. He said Mahorib's ahead. We don't know what we'll walk into.

Paul Cooper : Snap out of it, Easton. According to my charts, we should reach the Katobi River sometime tomorrow. Then our worries will be over.

Dalton Kraik : Yeah, you hear that, rummy? I'll take a slug of your jungle juice. C'mon.

Paul Cooper : What are you in a hurry for, Kraik? You should be the one who would want to stop.

Dalton Kraik : No, you don't get the idea. See, jails don't bother me. There isn't a jail built that I can't get out of. But this place - whoa! It's worse than solitary. I want out - fast.

  • [after Kraik slaps Easton]

Paul Cooper : What's the matter, Kraik? Were you afraid he was going to tell us you smashed the radio set? That wasn't hard to figure out.

Dalton Kraik : Go to the head of the class.

  • [Ticoora, Paul, Lamser and Kraik, are dragged into the witch doctor's camp where they find Easton unharmed]

    Paul Cooper : Easton - you're alive!

Dalton Kraik : Yeah, sure he's alive and doin' fine, ain't ya, pal. Hey, tell these French poodles to turn me loose.

    [Easton just smiles]

Dalton Kraik : Easton, this is beginnin' to smell like a double-cross.

Carl Easton : Not exactly a double-cross, Kraik - just the law of the jungle I've learned from 12 years here. Survival of the fittest.

  • Dalton Kraik : Hey, Lamser, come here. Looks like we're going to have one cop less, huh.

Lamser : I hope not. He seems like a right guy.

Dalton Kraik : Hey, I noticed you're getting kind of chummy with the opposition. What's with ya? Haven't I always taken care of ya? Haven't I always gotten you out of jams?

Lamser : [snorts]  Yeah - also in. If you hadn't gotten trigger happy with those natives, we wouldn't be in this spot.

Dalton Kraik : Hey, I don't like backtalk from the hired help, Lamser. Your insurance paid up?

Lamser : Look, Kraik, I'm tired of runnin'. I always thought you were pretty much of a big shot, but you been in a couple of spots lately and I'm not sure anymore.

Dalton Kraik : Better get sure. You know I'm not in this caper alone. Guys I play ball with would hate to hear that you called copper. Think it over.

    Lamser : Maybe I will.

  • Carl Easton : Well now, look here - if you're suggesting...

Dalton Kraik : Let me do the suggesting; you take care of the paperwork.

Carl Easton : What do you mean, "paperwork".

Dalton Kraik : I'm gonna need a power of attorney to file an injunction against the estate.

Carl Easton : But-but why would Walker give that to me?

Dalton Kraik : Plenty of good reasons. You're going out ahead of him, aren't ya? Suppose there's some delay in him gettin' out? Well, the estate is due to go to charity. The bankers gotta have proof that Ticoora's still alive.

Carl Easton : Ah, that's true. The bankers know I was lost with him.

Dalton Kraik : Ah-ha - now you're usin' the old bean.

Carl Easton : But Ticoora and Walker will have to claim that fund in person. If they don't what good would an injunction do?

Dalton Kraik : Look. Look jughead, you are the only one alive who can identify Irene Walker, right?

Carl Easton : Yes, of course. The bankers haven't seen Irene since she was a little girl.

Dalton Kraik : Well, I know plenty of girls who were once little girls. About a month from now, you're going to waltz into the bank with one of 'em and she's going to tell a harrowing tale about how her poor old father died on the hazardous jungle trails; beset by lions and tigers and stuff. Come on, let's go did a grave.

  • [Kraik grabs Easton's gun]

Dalton Kraik : I'll take that. Take it easy. Papa's here to protect ya with little Junior here. Matter of fact, I'm not going to give you any lumps for trying to stool on me out there. As things turned out, it's okay. If they think you hate me, they'll never figure out we're trying to cook a deal.

Carl Easton : What are you talking about?

Dalton Kraik : About you and me and a million potatoes.

    Carl Easton : Huh?

Dalton Kraik : Yeah, I like the way things are turning out. If I hadn't smashed the radio, Cooper would have been able to fly the old man back in plenty of time to claim the estate.

Carl Easton : But he can still claim it.

Dalton Kraik : No - not if Cooper don't come back to fly him out.
