Editing together original footage, found footage, and quotations from other films into rapidly alternating flickers, "Decomposituations" attempts to adapt the existentialist concepts of the situation and transcendence ("Being and Nothingness") to film. The film commences with numerous images - both symbolic and literal - of copulation, conception and birth; and works forward through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and death. Themes touched on include education, self-discovery, self-reflection, political action, sexual awakening, travel, Guy Debord's "Society of the Spectacle," religious indoctrination, mass destruction and violence, work, isolation, and despair.
