Set against the backdrop of a newly independent India, the film is about a little girl, Maya, who wants a new outfit for an upcoming dance competition. But her mother believes in only wearing Khadi (hand woven cloth), a revolution started by Gandhi and this becomes the point of conflict in a household torn between two different ideologies.
