Big Jim Cullison, boss of the Henley logging camp, engages as typist a girl by the name of Grace Ivers. Jim soon sees in the girl more than a business assistant. Some time later Jerry Henley, the owner of the camp, arrives on a tour of inspection, accompanied by his secretary, Graves. The latter is an old confidence man, who had once wronged Grace, and he threatens to expose her if she gives his game away. Jim overhears this conversation and ships Graves out of the camp. Graves, however, gets off the train and goes back to the camp. In the middle of the night he tries to break into Grace's cabin and is only stopped by the arrival of Jim. They fight for the girl and Jim is victorious. Jim tells Graves that he will have to get out for good and forces him to write a note to his employer, saying that he has been called out of town on business. Then Jim leaves the way clear for a romance between Henley and Grace as Henley had previously told him that he intended to propose to the girl. At last the date that had been set for Henley's departure comes and he leaves without the girl. This is a puzzle to the big, honest woodsman. At last he musters up courage enough to ask, and is told what has happened. Henley asked and has been refused. Grace said that she found that she really loved the boss of the camp, and so could not marry Henley. In the end, the lovers are united.
