In this episode, the anime already covers the core of the police and in particular the mysterious L. The police already notice a modus operantis of unexpected deaths happening but have no idea who or how they are doing it. We also see that even at Interpol there is disagreement as to whether what Light is doing is good or bad because criminals are being killed. At that time, when the internet was in its infancy, it was already noticed that human beings act differently in person and virtually, due to the anonymity that the internet provides. And with that, those who are in Light's favor decide to name him Kira, which fuels the protagonist's ego more and makes him think he is doing the right thing. Here we see that Light/Kira goes to great lengths to prove that he is right, even if he kills a detective because he is an obstacle on his journey to become the god of his little world. And here begins the most brilliant confrontation of all anime that has ever existed, even without needing a shock of thunder, kamehameha, dragon's wrath, nine-tailed fox. Their only super powers are their super genius and Light still has the triumph that is the Death Note. This confrontation deserved an infinitely better live-action than Netflix provided. Episode two watched on March 5, 2024.
