I know episode is about the strained friendship between Daria and Jane over Tom . No one is all good or bad in this situation . They all try to avoid it but when it comes out surprisingly they still remain friends . It's just not going to be like it was for a while. That said Jane and Tom were slowly drifting apart. The previous episode for example Tom and Daria like to discuss things Jane is bored by.
Still Daria was worried about losing her only friend and went out of her way to seek Helen's help and advice. The interesting part is it happened after Daria and Jane talk . Helen as often happens and proves to be more insightful than is often given credit for.
One of the most awkward moments is Daria trying to tell Jane she is no good at coloring hair which is what Jane asks her to do. Daria is not wrong it's a disaster but it only makes the growing tension between them worse.
On a personal note I could relate to Daria it's not something everyone can do.
