Warning: Spoilers
Swami is a drama film, directed by Ganesh Acharya. The film stars Manoj Bajpai, Juhi Chawla, Maninder Singh and Neha Pendse.

Swami and his family move to Mumbai from a village to live a happy life. One day, his wife gets diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and their life turns upside down.

I've read some stellar reviews about the film on IMDb and was very much excited to see the film and though that this film might be some hidden gem as i have never heard of the film but at the end of the film found that although the film is beautiful but somewhat is little over appreciated specially in IMDb reviews.

The plot of the film which revolves around the happily married couple Swami and Radha who moves to Mumbai for the better life of their child and there they gets to know that Radha is not well and they require 20-25k for her operation, here Swami started doing overtime in order to collect the money for the operation of Radha but Radha buys a chair for Swami which was his long drawn wish and she dies due to her illness but before dying takes a promise from Swami to teach his child so that they can send him to America for a better prospect and he successfully fulfils her dream by sending his son to America. Now the film looks a beautifully made love story with two of the stellar actors of Hindi cinema with superb performances but the film somewhat lacks in originality and gets over the top sometime.

There are some very beautifully shot scenes for which the cinematographer, the director and the actors deserves special applause specially the dying scene of Radha and also in the scene where Swami gets to know that his daughter in law has sold the chair. The expressions on the face of the actors were superb.

The screenplay of the film is decent with film gets slow in between but didn't disturbs the pace of the film. Acting by Manoj Bajpai and Juhi Chawla were terrific. Maninder Singh and Neha Pendse were equally impressive although the child actors and the friends of Swami were over the top.

I have read and heard lots of appreciation about the music of the film but myself didn't find the songs that impressive or memorable, the song may be a hit at the time of release of the film but for me allmost all of the songs were unheard.

Climax of the film is tear jerking and emotional. Ganesh Acharya is a great choreographer but in my opinion was little naive in handling such films with such emotional subject and i personally feels that an experienced or seasoned director would've made this film with much better outcome although this film is also good and impressive. Can be watched once.
