(2004) Target THRILLER

Produced and directed by William Webb that has US Special Forces and sniper, Charlie (Stephen Baldwin) along with his spotter, Curtis (Jeffrey Johnson) on some mission in desert storm kind of environment. What was supposed to be a routine operation forced Charlie to shoot toward some illegal arms dealers who were manhandling his undercover agent. Meanwhile, one of the arms dealers also happens to have a brother, his name is Yevon Bodnar (Yorgo Constantine) who witnessed his brothers demise and was also watching from a distance as well. And he vows revenge after he retaliates by attempting to launch bazooka attacks at them, and both manage to escape. We are then in LA, and we witness Charlie's daily life as he and his wife, Maggie Snow (Deborah Worthing) are separated as he shows up to spend time with their two children, Sam and Lisa Snow. There is a nearby diner that they often go to, to meet the family friend who works their, Maysie (Patty McCormack) and sometimes their uncle, Donovan (James Russo) sometimes shows up. And it is not long before the arms dealer criminal, Yevon Bodner is at LA, and he manages to get his spotter, Curtis first. Yevon then manages to kidnap Maggie before making attempts to go after the two kids who were at school. Except that as a heads up, Charlie manages to send his best friend, Donovan to pick them up before leaving them at their freind's diner. This was during the time when people were using flip phones and there were still open pay phones. Apparently, when Yevon came to LA he has brought helpers with him. A spotter (Steve Matilla), Anna (Inna Swann) and another nobody. Charlie manages to contact NSA, Nolan (Debra Wilson) to give him assistance to figure out who would want him dead and why.

Upon looking at the poster and so forth, I was kind of hoping the tone was similar to the "Sniper" movies that starred Tom Berenger and , and was quite disappointed that it wasn't. What target managed to do instead was it raised more questions than I got answers. Such as if the bad guy, Yevon Bodner was so dangerous how was it he and his cronies was allowed to enter into the country. How Yevon was able to identify, recognize and figure out both Charlie and his spotter Curtis from a distance! Does he have a photographic memory and has the technology to find that out! The fact that everything was done on broad daylight makes this even more unbelievable.
