This is a Netflix Original film which has a lot of great ideas and a lot of potential, but it had some flaws that stopped it being above good for me.
Themes and ideological commentary is where this film shines! It had so many unique elements that critiqued how predominantly Black areas are treated by the American government. It does take a little while to fully show off these elements within the narrative though. Furthermore, John Boyega does a great job having to portray multiple different characters.
One of major issues was the film's lighting. At points, I was struggling to distinguish what was going on. The sombre lighting style the film was going for could have been achieved whilst also allowing for an audience to see what is going on. However, the sections in the underground location had some really effective visuals and lighting.
I would recommend checking this out, but I suggest looking for a way to combat the film's lighting problem!
