Rewatching this show again so many years after it first came out,I am struck by how downright annoying the whole Sam and Diane relationship is. The problem is,it is so overdone,and so overplayed that it pulls all of the life out of the rest of the show. Ted Danson and Shelly Long are both quite talented and do a great job with their parts,the problem is with the writing. Diane and Sam just recently started 'dating' (to put it gently). Sam as a boss starts showing obvious favoritism towards Diane at the bar and Carla calls Sam out on it. This blows up and Diane quits her job at the bar. This is the perfect clean break that Sam and the bar need. It doesn't last long. Diane does indeed find a job in another field of work but her new boss has the same illicit intentions towards her as Sam does. What (who🤡) will she do ? 4/10.
