Ritual is the sole Tales from the Crypt film that was never released in theaters. After watching this sloppy remake of I Walked with a Zombie, it's not hard to figure out why the producers were unable to find a distributor for this lousy film. Like the other TFTC films we get an intro from the crypt keeper which is amusing as always. The story follows a young doctor who loses her medical license & gets hired in Jamacia. The person she's helping is a victim of Voodoo who is convinced that he's a zombie. The overall story is an obvious ripoff of The Serpent & The Rainbow and is so poorly acted and so sloppily executed that it just ends up being an atrocious bore. Fans of Tales from the Crypt will be disappointed and anyone expecting to be scared won't be. Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood are both a lot better than this so if you wish to see a Crypt movie see one of those and avoid this one. If you want a good Voodoo Zombie flick, check out The Serpent & The Rainbow or Sugar Hill instead. I don't recommend this movie unless you have already seen everything Tales from the Crypt and want more but be warned, it's a horrible disappointment.
