This was a pleasant surprise to tell you the truth. With all the not-so-favourable feedback, I thought I could be setting myself up. But I was grateful it proved me wrong.
The ensemble felt like they had ridiculous fun working together that was infectious. The comedy is kitschy but works because most of these actors are serious actors, apart from the very funny Anna Faris, and Kathleen Turner. And the ball almost never was dropped (in dialogue) so it was engaging given that recent ensemble films have been tediously boring.
The film asks you not to take it seriously because it almost completely relies on the sense of play that the ensemble have with each other and it was worthwhile, no doubt!
