The religion of the main characters is irrelevant, it could be any small town church.

After having attended a small town Christian church in the US for several years, this show accurately shows how hard it is to minister to people in a small church in the middle of nowhere. Every parishioner in your church wants you to cater totally to them. You must please both the liberal and extreme conservatives in your flock without compromising basic beliefs. This show excellently shows that.

Fred Tupper's "satirical" radio show is the icing on the cake of the show. His undeniable connection to Fatima, the easily offended Muslim restaurant owner in town, wraps it all up nicely.

I don't believe this show wanted to pander to everyone, and in doing so, became bland and banal.

I do believe this show wonderfully represents small towns and people who have to grow their mindsets when they adamantly refuse to do so.
