Ruthless pirate The Hook buries his treasure with only one map to show the location. Princess Margaret (Virginia Mayo) is traveling with a false identity on her way to elope with her beloved. She is annoyed with her talkative next door neighbor Sylvester the Great (Bob Hope). He's a cowardly actor with few other skills. Their ship gets attacked by The Hook.
For the whole movie, I kept waiting for Margaret's beloved to show up. It was frustrating but it does have a fun reveal. Sylvester is best as the bumbling friend. This is a fun swashbuckling comedy. Bob Hope is doing his fun Bob Hope act. Virginia Mayo is playing the beautiful girl but not much more than that. It looks good in its Technicolor glory.
